On Tuesday, April 28, at 4:18 PM, CSPD received a robbery call for service at Target, involving a person stealing items and threatening to use pepper spray and a firearm on an employee.
As patrol officers were responding, detectives in the RTCC launched a drone to monitor the situation.
At 4:25 PM, the drone operator radioed patrol officers that they had located a person matching the description and was able to monitor their location until officers arrived at 4:34 PM

The demands of Drone as First Responder are as diverse as policing itself. There are a huge variety of missions you need to fly, which means there's no single perfect drone. This is why @SkydioHQ is building a whole family of flying robots.
The mid-size quadcopter is unbeatable as the everyday workhorse. X10 is the DFR market leader because it’s versatile, super reliable, super easy to operate, small, quiet, and safe. It will keep getting better through SW and HW improvements delivered to all of our public safety customers.
Some of the most dangerous and important work in public safety happens indoors. DFR should go there as well. This is why we built R10.
But sometimes you need to fly super fast or stay in the air for hours. The bad (but seemingly popular) answer for this is a giant quadcopter. The right answer is a fixed-wing aircraft.
F10, which we previewed at Ascend last year, is the long-range, long-endurance, high-speed beast for the agencies that cover large land areas or want to eliminate high-speed ground vehicle pursuits. A wing is fundamentally the right architecture for this, which is why F10, with 100mph top speed and >90-minute endurance, easily out-specs its giant-quadcopter-would-be-competitors. It’s just very hard to make a wing dock autonomously and easy to operate for a single (or no) pilot.
But we are making it work. Public, live demonstrations of F10 from last year are already well beyond the (mostly CGI) launch videos of its competitors. And we have made *a lot* of progress since then. F10 builds on a mature technology foundation, and it’s coming in hot at 100mph. It will blow people’s minds when the full product is unveiled.
The @USArmy just made its largest single-vendor sUAS order in history: $52M for nearly 3,000 Skydio X10Ds - high precision, day/night, GPS-denied and EW resilient, super reliable ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance). This kind of capability used to cost $ M per drone. Now it’s 100x cheaper thanks to $ MMM of self-funded R&D by @SkydioHQ, combined with our civilian market scale in the tens of thousands of units per year, where we compete - and win - versus Chinese drones (the same drones that our adversaries will be using in every modern conflict).
X10D was sharpened by hard lessons in Ukraine and close iterative feedback with our soldiers through initiatives like the Army’s Transformation in Contact. It is the perfect “hunter” to find targets for “killer” one-way attack drones and other munitions to strike, a tactic we’ve already seen in Ukraine.
