@iqrafatma1278 Pick the $20 up off the table and walk out with it in your pocket - I understand servers aren’t well paid but that’s their problem to sort with their employer not yours. While servers continue to accept this it will never change.
@Skelhorn @DanNeidle There’s no doubt our free speech is being eroded (like it is in most mainstream economies) but it’s certainly much more free in the UK than in any of The Emirates which whilst very attractive in many ways (except summer!) they are for all intents and purposes still fiefdoms
@rukasumiii@bigasaplanet@DanNeidle UK companies paid ~£94bn of corp-tax in 2023–24. Using ONS profit proxy, that’s an effective ~16%, not 0%. The gap to 25% is mostly reliefs/losses and the small-profits band, not mass avoidance.
@floschechter It makes sense if you own the business / charge more (far more) when people like to travel - if you want a fair system let a “not for proffit” run the railways backed by sensible regulation.
@BenWallace70 The problem is we the populace no longer believe anything any politician of any party says, you’re all simply out to score points for your own good, could that be unfair? Of course it could but it’s how you all make us feel.
@EstherMcVey1 About the same chance there is you will stop slinging mud over the fence and get on with doing something to represent those who voted for you
