Charleston has hired Akron head coach John Groce, source told @thefieldof68. Groce, 54, has taken the Zips to three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and gone dancing four of the last five seasons.
Groce will replace Chris Mack, who left Charleston after two seasons to take the South Florida job. Groce is 377-225 in his career. He was also the head coach at Ohio (2008-12) and Illinois (2012-17).
@calbertchainee@jontweetssports How is that a bad comparison? Both have 1 conference and 1 national title! I’d argue it was harder to win a national championship in 2019 than last year, if parity is real and teams don’t have the top end talent anymore.
@ChrisK465@jontweetssports That certainly can’t be a take right?
Also, never said the big ten was bad. They are second behind the SEC top to bottom. By a pretty big margin.
@calbertchainee@jontweetssports Same with Coach O!!! He was around for forever after having a top 3 team of all time. Heard he’s still in Baton Rouge coaching!
@calbertchainee@jontweetssports I’m willing to eat my words if I’m wrong, but to call IU a stalwart in the cfb world is wild after one national championship. IU fans talk like you guys have been doing this for years now. Wild complex in Bloomington!
@jontweetssports Jon, you did not tell me little 10 fans have this big of an inferiority complex. A lot of little man syndrome going on in my mentions. Go dawgs!
@ChrisK465@jontweetssports They also played a team whose quarterback was clearly 50% and had to come out of the game to put in a back up. I’m not saying Alabama would win that game, but the number is skewed a bit.
Plus, the only inter conference match up was UGA vs OM so that eliminated one contender
@MLS_AfterDark@jontweetssports That guy was the end all be all on the defense! Football is football, you are gonna lose a guy. It’s about who loses the least now a days. Interior defensive lineman are important, but not as important as say a top end edge or DB.
