The #Bearcats got a commitment from Bowling Green State guard Javontae Campbell.
Cincinnati is getting one of the most accomplished two-way guards in the MAC. Campbell was the 2025-26 MAC Defensive Player of the Year, a First Team All-MAC selection and a two-time MAC All-Defensive Team honoree.
He led the entire NCAA with 97 steals this past season after setting BGSU’s single-season steals record the year before, becoming the first player in program history to earn multiple MAC All-Defensive Team selections. Campbell was also a Lefty Driesell Award finalist and the only mid-major player named to the 15-player Naismith Defensive Player of the Year late-season team.
But he’s far more than just a defensive presence. Campbell exploded for 47 points and 8 assists in a road win over UMass, recorded BGSU’s first triple-double since 2007 and established himself as a legitimate two-way playmaker.
Now, he brings that defensive intensity, versatility and proven production to Cincinnati. 🐾

NEWS: A Indiana circuit court has issued a temporary restraining order for NCAA eligibility that includes Indiana defensive stars Stephen Dailey and Kellen Wyatt, per me and Mark Schlabach. "To be clear, it is the Court’s intention to place Plaintiffs in the position they were in at the end of their last college sports season."
Meanwhile the NCAA's tampering probe into Ole Miss is still unfolding: Clemson alleges coach Pete Golding pursued LB Luke Ferrelli while he was still enrolled there, including texts about his buyout and a $1M offer.
NCAA has requested forensic phone imaging from Golding's staff.
The College Sports Commission is reportedly investigating UNC football over possible NIL and revenue-sharing violations.
This after GM Michael Lombardi was placed on administrative leave. UNC put $13M of its $20.5M rev-share pool into football this year.
Same enforcement body cleared LSU with zero discipline in an earlier case.
Worth watching whether UNC gets the same outcome, or whether this is where the CSC starts drawing a harder line.
