#CervicalCancer is the 4️⃣th most common cancer in women globally with an estimated 604 000 new cases and 342 000 deaths in 2020.

Cervical cancer is caused by persistent infection with the human papillomavirus (HPV).  Women living with HIV are 6 times more likely to develop cervical cancer compared to women without HIV.

Prevention:
🔬 Get screened
Early detection means appropriate & successful treatment. Women from the age of 30 or 25 years in women living with HIV.

📝 Get Informed:
Stay informed with up-to-date correct information on cervical cancer from trusted sources.

💉 Get vaccinated:
Being vaccinated at age 9–14 years is a very effective way to prevent HPV infection, cervical cancer and other HPV-related cancers.

➕ Redness or swelling
➕ Watery eyes
➕ A gritty feeling
➕ Itchiness, irritation or burning
➕ Discharge
➕ Crusting of the eyelids

How to protect yourself and those around you;
✅ Wash your hands regularly with soap and clean water;
✅ Avoid touching or rubbing your eye;
✅ Avoid sharing eye products;
✅ Don't wear eye lenses until you feel better.
✅ Ensure good hygiene of personal items e.g pillow cases.

❗Do not use antibiotics unless prescribed by a qualified healthcare professional.

This Friday evening I will be on the “hot seat” - for good reasons! 😃

So, I will be hanging out with Rotaractors from our District for a heart to heart conversation about Rotary, career, money, and life in general.

Their theme this year is ‘Be Bold’ and I am certainly excited to be on the “hot seat”.

Rotaractors are young people aged 18-30 in university, working or doing business.
They have their own Clubs (called Rotaract) and members (called Rotaractors), manage their own service projects and fundraise for them.

As they get older, these young people go on to become Rotarians. So ideally they are the future of Rotary in Africa!

Just after leaving Kisii University, the weather took a turn, from shiny calm day to moderate to heavy rain.

The following short clip is a testament of youths passion, resilience and dedication in making their contribution in the fight against #AntimicrobialResistance.

The team of 18 cyclists from AMR Now, Kisii University Flamingo Rover Scouts & Kisii University were committed to stay in the course in achieving the #WAAW2023 Youths' Cycling for #AMR Awareness.

Our hearty commendation for their committed volunteerism & dedication towards doing the noble cause of delivering the #HandleWithCare; #PreventingAMRtogether message to members the local community.
