World Polio Day 24th October.

As part of the ongoing commitment, Club members helped to erect a shed, greenhouse and potting table for the Space Charity at their allotment in Cheddar. Space supports local young people 4-18 years who are suffering mental health issues. @RotaryGBI

The Club has amended the stay at home signs to thank all those who helped to reduce the spread of Covid 19 by staying at home. The Club appreciates the assistance given by Cheddar Signs and the local Companies who sponsored the original signage.@RotaryGBI

The March 75 Club charity draw was carried out my Val Maunder,from local Company W C Maunders assisted my Jim Warnell. Once again supporting our fund raising efforts. The draw started during the pandemic to ensure the Club could continue to support local charities at this time.

New life is growing as our purple crocus demonstrate. Thanks to the effort of Rotary there are 19 million children walking who would not otherwise be, thanks to the Rotary End Polio Now Campaign. @District1200 @RotaryGBI

In suport of the Governments vaccination roll out programme, the Club continues to liase with the local GP Practices to provide transport to the vaccination centres for vunerable adults in its catchment area. @District1200 @RotaryGBI

Members of the Club and volunteers from the Space Charity erected the new fence around the Space Allotment in Cheddar. It has been erected to ensure rabbits are unable to get into the allotment to damage the produce. They were assisted by Jason from JC Landscape. @RotaryGBI

District 1190 Cumbria & Lancashire are hosting the UK segment of the event titled "The Sun Never Sets in Rotary". The event will start and finish in D3232 India, having gone across the 6 continents. @RotaryGBI @Rotary

Members of the Club and volunteers from "The Space Charity"preparing raised beds in preparation for planting later in the year. A trench was also dug to erect fencing. All work was done in a Covid secure fashion and a Risk Assessment was prepared. @District1200 @RotaryGBI

Rotarians Peter Wright and Mike Hiles have been transporting vunerable adults from the local area to receive their Covid 19 vaccinations. They have been taking them to Burnham on Sea and Ashton Gate Bristol home of Bristol Bears Rugby. @RotaryGBI @District1200 @Rotary

The Rotary Foundation Team has received the highest rating of four stars from Charity Navigator, an independent evaluator of charities in the US for the 13th consecutive year which is achieved by only one percent of organisations. Mendip Rtn. Mike Webb is a member of this team.

The Club recently inducted their second new member of this Rotary Year. With the current lockdown this was done virtually on zoom. It shows that with good social media pages a good website and PR, Rotary can attract new members in these difficult times. @District1200

In line with the current Government advice, the Club has modified the numerous road signs erected around the area in spring 2020 to reinforce the Stay at Home protect key worker message for visitors and local residents. @RotaryGBI @District1200

Cheddar Arts and The Art Quarter are endevouring to create an uplifting activity for Christmas. They are asking businesses in the Cheddar Valley to put a festive display in their windows and Make Cheddar Festive. The event is supported by the Parish Council & Chambers of Commerce

In the middle of a pandemic our signs erected to remind people to protect the local community have been damaged in a display of antisocial behaviour. It didnt work we have got them back. Stay safe. @RotaryGBI

The Club has placed a display in Cheddar Library to highlight World Polio Day 24th October 2020. It has been involved from the beginning. Rtn. John Lane a well known local business man was the original treasurer for the Rotary International Britain and Ireland polio initiative.

The Coronavirus pandemic has limited the Clubs ability to generate funds for good causes. To celebrate it's 75th charter in October 2020 a 75 club draw has been started to raise charitable funds. The landlady Lori of The Strawberry Special Draycott drew the 1st winning number.

The Club in partnership with the Kings of Wessex Academy are supporting Space Charity which is helping young people in the Cheddar Valley. They have recently obtained an allotment and the Club will be assisting with turning it into an area for growing vegetables. @RotaryGBI
