“The way up and down are one and the same.”
So wrote Heraclitus of Ephesus, the ancient philosopher who left us this enigmatic fragment of opposites folding into one another.
What do you think he meant?
Freud said practically all mental illness stem from the artificial separation of the sexes in adolescence, forcing a suppression of the libidinal instinct. "Tamen usque recurret" to speak with Horatius
'Young spartans exercising' Edgar Degas 1860
@blur_vibe You’re googling his bibliography and making claims as to which of his works are ’major’ or not. You’re also passionately arguing with me over an author you just admitted to never having read. You’re rehashing the profanest bertrand russell tier critiques from 100 years ago
@kvshlvk What are you talking about? It has nothing to do with politics or marcuse or whatever. It's a simple statement that if one has a 'natural' (aristotelean sense) drive, one wishes to fulfill it. And if this is impeded, it has various consequences psychologically. It's not difficult
@kvshlvk I dont think you know very much except basically "Wilhelm reich was a pervert" and "Frankfurt school was le bad". I havent mentioned reich, I have mentioned freud. If reich agrees with him, great, that would make three of us. Whatever else reich was on about is not my problem
@kvshlvk Yeah, there is nothing of the sort in Freud of a "Political project". Their stances on eroticism, sex, masturbation are almost opposites. Freud was an enemy of masturbation and homosexuality. He simply thought repressing the libido during the heights of puberty lead to neurosis
@blur_vibe It's ironic how you seemingly think you are getting away with simultaneously posing as someone with thorough freud knowledge (You do not have this), while also claiming he is "Pseudoscience bullshit", with the typical obnoxious positivism spiel. Don't you have a war to fight?
