It's time to also take a closer look at National Assembly members. How are they advocating for an increasingly suffering majority?

Every @nassnigeria member should have a webpage listing his/her office contact details and report of work. The official NASS website has a non-functioning button called "Know Your Legislator". The only way to find out who represents you is to scroll down to Quick Links. There, you can click on either "Honorable Representatives" or "Distinguished Senators". These open up to searchable but incomplete lists. For each member listed, the interests and achievements sections are typically empty. Contact details typically have a Gmail or Yahoo address. Do these email addresses actually get checked?

How many reps and senators are truly working for their constituencies and available to receive inputs from their people so that they can understand how best to represent their voice?

It is NASS that is tasked with oversight and standing up for the people's concerns. The legislative arm of government is also responsible for policy development, ministerial and budget vetting, and in general limiting the overreach of the executive. Instead, NASS has too many half-baked members itching to find more ways of lining their pockets and committing treason.

Some research that I think Nigerian engineering PhDs should be working on

30-50kva biomass generators to power 5-15 houses

In rural areas they can be larger and powered directly by raw biomass, while in cities they can be more compact and powered with biomass briquettes

Imagine the possibilities if we can power our homes with biomass generators that are sustainable, safer, cheaper and green?

No need for long distance transmission of electricity with attendant losses.

I am a band A customer as duly confirmed by your office (see screenshot below)

Since your company did not waste time to implement the new N225/kWh, I have taken it upon myself to monitor your supply uptime and downtime hours from 12:00am 4th of April to 11:59pm 4th of April 2024.

In that 24 hours, you supplied my BAND A area with 12hour,4mins of electricity while downtime hours amounted to 11hours,55mins.

It is pertinent to note that you have charged me and others in our area who bought units after the implementation at the new rate based on the fact that we are on Band and are expected to have nothing less than 20hours of electricity supply in 24hours.

We have been charged upfront for a supposed premium service while your company has failed to honor your own part of the bargain.

The question I have which I am sure that many Nigerians you serve also have is, who pays for hours of downtime?

Am I and other Nigerians in these shoes supposed to continue to pay N225/kWh while we are getting the service expected of a Band C customer (up to 12hours uptime) ?

Your swift response will be highly appreciated before this issue is escalated to the appropriate quarters.

Good morning, @CustomsNG. In your Easter message yesterday, accompanied by a picture of Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, the Comptroller General of Customs, you described smuggling as “a criminal act that is detrimental to our national development”.

If smugglers are criminals, what then shall we call Customs officers who steal from smugglers? Senior criminals?

Just two weeks ago, a coterie of Customs officers led by Patrick Odion, the OC Operations for Ajegunle-Ilaro Road, Ogun State, broke into a house in Oja-Odan at 2 a.m. or thereabouts, carting away 155 bags of rice.

Unbeknownst to Odion and co, the owners of the rice bags detailed someone to track the movement of the loot. The discovery: not one of the 155 bags of rice ended up at the Customs office in Idi-Iroko or Ikeja! Instead, the Customs officers facilitated their sale at the Sango market for more than N9 million. For context, this is like a policeman breaking into a robber’s house to steal from the robber.

So Nigerians like to know: if smuggling is a “criminal act”, how would the NCS describe stealing from smugglers? If uncooperative smugglers often get shot by Customs, what fate should befall Odion and other Customs officers who loot smuggled goods?
