@BadPerson4800@NurseLekan Then it's all good for Chelsea cause they're not under pressure to sell a player approaching his prime either. He still got 6 years left on his contract, by the time he runs out of contract he would be 31 already
Wrote a whole historical essay only to prove you don't even understand how the voting system or the actual criteria of the award works. You are crying about corruption and favouritism when the real culprit is just your own lack of basic common semse.
You morons just keep looking for reasons to cope convince yourselves about how Cristiano is an inferior player to Messi.
2010
You claimed Sneijder wasn't even nominated, which is a lie, he finished 4th. But let's even talk about why he didn't win. In 2010, the Ballon d'Or merged with the FIFA World Player of the Year, meaning international managers and captains voted alongside journalists.
If you actually look at the data, Sneijder won the journalists' vote. If the award hadn't merged that year, Sneijder would have won the traditional Ballon d'Or. It wasn't "corruption" it was the fact that global players and managers overwhelmingly voted for Messi because Messi scored 60 goals for club and country and was structurally the best footballer on the planet. Sneijder wasn't even the undisputed best player at Inter Milan that season. Diego Milito was their Champions League final hero and Serie A MVP. Sneijder's form completely fell off a cliff in the second half of 2010, whereas Messi was a relentless machine all year round.
2019
You claimed Van Dijk was robbed because he won the Champions League. By that logic, should every single award just go to the best defender on the winning Champions League team?
In 2019, Messi put up one of the most carrying, god tier individual seasons in modern football history. He dragged a deeply flawed Barcelona side to a La Liga title and the Champions League semi-finals, finishing as the European Golden Shoe winner with 51 goals and 22 assists in 50 games. He was the top scorer in La Liga and the top scorer in the Champions League. The Ballon d'Or is an individual award, and individually, no one touched Messi in 2019. Even Van Dijk publicly admitted that Messi deserved it.
2021
Bringing up Jorginho is a joke 🤣 Just completely exposes your casual bias. Jorginho was a tactical cog in two great, system driven teams (Chelsea and Italy). He was not the best individual player in the world. He wasn't even the best player at Chelsea (Kanté was) or Italy (Donnarumma was named Player of the Tournament at the Euros).
Messi in 2021 finally broke his international curse by winning the Copa América. He didn't just win it; he completely broke the tournament. He was the Top Scorer, Top Assister, and named Player of the Tournament. He had 44 goal contributions that year while dragging Argentina and a collapsing Barcelona team on his back. Giving the award to Jorginho just because his teams won trophies would have been the real corruption. Ronaldo fans like you are just too damn delusional.
World Cup
Lol 😂 How can you saythere is hypocrisy because the World Cup mattered in 2018 (Modrić) and 2022 (Messi), but not in 2010 or 2014???
The World Cup has ALWAYS been a massive weight, but it isn't an automatic cheat code if an individual player's club season is historically undeniable. In 2010, Spain won the World Cup, but their votes were split between Xavi and Iniesta, allowing Messi's 60-goal season to take the top spot. In 2014, Germany won as a collective machine with no single standout superstar to claim the award, so Ronaldo won it on the back of a historic 17 goal Champions League campaign.
There is no "favouritism" or "shielding." The award is voted on by hundreds of football journalists, captains, and managers across the globe. To suggest they all collectively conspired for 15 years to hand Messi trophies just because they like him is pure, unadulterated cope 😂😂. Messi won those awards because when you strip away the team trophies, he was the statistically and visually superior footballer on Earth, and most importantly, he was VOTED. Ronaldo fans just like to cope like Children. Stop rewriting history to fit your agenda.
Ghanaian fans spotted a Nigerian rocking a Super Eagles jersey after the match and turned him into the center of attention, singing “Come and See What the Lord Has Done” as they carried him through the streets.😭🙆♂️💔
16 years later, I still maintain Messi was the best player that season. Performance wise, he was better than every candidate.
I'll never accept that a 7-game tournament should be the only criteria to determine the best player that year—ignoring 10 months of intense football is insanity.
Same way Haaland was robbed in 2022. Ironic that it was against Messi.
@DebolaOG_XLEAM@TobzyTruth_ Because even with the World cup no one matches up to his individual achievements in 2010. A case could have been made had sneijder won the world cup but he didn't and neither was he the best player in his club in that same season
@onchainoverlord@Jayteeszn__@TobzyTruth_ If you agreed Ronaldo's stat in 2013 without winning a single trophy is enough to claim the award tell me how this isn't enough?
Plus he won the LA Liga, Super cup and Copa Del Rey
Reality was Barrister’s last gift. He walked into that studio and poured everything left in him into two tracks that somehow fit every moment of a Yoruba life. Birth. Marriage. Death. Joy. Grief. One album, every occasion. That is not music. That is prophecy.
