A disturbing incident at Liverpool Lime Street station saw 25-year-old Osman Moalem attempt to kidnap a 19-year-old girl as she waited for friends outside the station.

Moalem grabbed her arm and repeatedly tried to drag her away, despite her shouting for him to let her go. An elderly couple noticed what was happening and intervened, threatening to call police.

The woman eventually broke free, but Moalem followed her into the station. British Transport Police officers arrested him just minutes later as he waited for a train.

Moalem, from Widnes, was later convicted of attempted kidnap at Liverpool Crown Court and sentenced to 27 months in prison.

Four British men were arrested after illegally crossing into the U.S. from Canada.
