Most PLO players study harder than they need to and still end up losing.
@fivecardguy was one of them. Grinding charts, memorizing ranges, going nowhere. Then he changed one thing about how he studies, and went from losing to crushing.
In this video he breaks down exactly how he studies PLO in GTO Wizard, and how you can build a strategy simple enough to actually use at the table.
If you play PLO and want to turn into a winning player, this one is for you. 🎯
Most players misplay A5s on Final Tables.
"A5s is the typical 4bet push hand".
WRONG.
KQs, KJs are often preferred.
Still block AK AQ KK QQ JJ and unblock a ton of bluffs coming from A5s, A4o A9o, etc.
A5s/A4s performs better against "tighter" 3betting ranges, when villain is not 3betting "light" for value (for example, flatting TT/JJ AQ), and it is really important to block AA/AK.
In those situations, A4s or A5s are much better since the villain bluffs less with Ax.
But in this example below, where villain will 3bet a ton of Ax bluffs, we see the solver prefers KQs over A5s and any other Ax. Even KJs are preferred over suited Ax.
Stacks are, of course, important. And there are still many spots where 4bet shoving A5s or A4s is really good, but more often than not, I see students mindlessly picking A4s or A5s as the first candidates to "play back". And this is very wrong.
