Very excited because Iโve officially qualified as a teacher, and Exeter Uni have awarded me the Ted Wragg Award for Outstanding Primary Trainee (hence the official looking photo) ๐ฅAn amazing year with some lovely new friends - starting as a Year 3 teacher in Sept!
We need more designs for the free school meals postcards we'll be sending the @educationgovuk to demand free school meals for all who need them, regardless of immigration status. Can you help? Pls spread the word! ๐
Itโs #nationalbookshopday today so Iโve been supporting my local bookshop (read: spending lots of money on books) for PGCE inspiration and a bit of a trip down memory lane with @MrMenOfficial ๐

If there are any fellow illustrators in the Exeter area whoโd be keen to meet up at some point in October, and discuss illustrationy stuff please let me know! Really want to keep my illustration going before this PGCE takes over my life too much! โ๏ธ
@rockbabyworld Itโs easy for life to get in the way a bit of illustrating and really putting work out there which was why #TimeToRead was such a good reminder about how effective it can be as a medium!
2/2 Not just depression, but other mental health issues, death, grief, physical illness... the list goes on. Just having access to books about these subjects, or a chat every so often would hopefully make them a bit less scary (for children and grown ups alike!)
1/2 For my final project in my 3rd year, I wrote/illustrated a picture book about the effects of depression on a family. @Booktrust#TimeToRead initiative reminded me how important it is to talk to children about things we often donโt like thinking about as adults.
@Booktrust I found @MichaelRosenYes โSad Bookโ a very useful read for me, about how grief affects us in different ways. Itโs very sad but is beautiful and very honest and doesnโt shy away from the more complex emotions of grief (e.g. anger), and summed up a lot of what I felt.
Thank you @NorthamptonHigh for inviting me to attend the Inspire East Conference at Churchill College today. It was great to meet the L6 girls and talk about illustration/the arts at university. Hopefully they found it useful and good luck to all of them! #gdst#GDSTsixthform
@TheGarethConway I am moving and that would be great as Iโm keen to keep illustrating and not let it drop because of the course so meeting other illustrators would really help keep me motivated! ๐
V. quiet on here lately because in August I applied for, had an interview and got a place at Exeter Uni on a Primary PGCE (specialising in Art)! ๐Iโll still be illustrating though so the duck supply will resume ASAP! Good training from the big sister Vicky Moore (c.1997)
