"I am so happy that they did not unplug me!”
On July 13, 2009, Angèle Lieby, suffering from Bickerstaff brainstem encephalitis, fell into a coma for 12 days…and then began to recover.
During her coma, while pinching her nipple, a doctor told medical students: "See, that's how we know when someone is brain dead...No reaction!"
But while Angèle was unable to move, she DID have a reaction: "Pain, despair, I wanted to scream!”
After her recovery, to justify this episode, the doctor told Angèle that "this was what he had learned in medical books.”
Angèle Lieby was saved because she shed a single tear in the presence of her family. She says this event shows how "the love of others is an incredible engine of life, which for me, played a primary role in the process of returning to life.”
However, despite this tear, the doctors "did not want to believe it,” even when "some movements reappeared.”
Thankfully, her family advocated for her, and she recovered. She even wrote a book about her experience, "Une larme m'a sauvée", (“Saved by a Tear”) in 2012.
Dead people don’t get better. “Brain Dead” people are not dead, they are neurologically injured. With continued care, some have recovered.
I visited @Tinder founder @seanrad today.
I asked him: “After building and exiting one of the world’s biggest dating apps, what do you spend your time doing?”
His answer was inspiring.
Sean wraps Tefillin and meditates almost every morning, has one-on-one Torah classes with different rabbis 4x a week, and dedicates significant time to supporting Jewish causes through his foundation.
Of course, he’s also investing in the next generation of founders.
But seeing someone at his level proudly prioritize his Judaism, grow closer to God, and give back is what stood out most.
A powerful example of Jewish leadership.
@HilzFuld Ive seen a lot of PM, don’t always like him but don’t think you doing us a service by smearing him as antisemite. See this thoughtful approach. Lmk what u think! https://t.co/2kYh4oONS4
@DBashIdeas Do you think that comparing some misguided hooligans who wish to have an expanded shul to traitors who support the deaths of fellow Jews is a true comparison? Although yes, we all have our extremists…
@RepStefanik What happened to MIT? How did she stay out of the firing line & are you still after her? Really well done on bringing relevance to congregational hearings
.@WOOLWORTHS_SA please confirm your position on this so we can decide whether to implement a mass Jewish Christian & Hindu boycott of your stores? Are u supporting genocidal terrorists that invaded israel slaughtering civilians raping women beheading babies & kidnapping children?
We met Rob on the Metro to the #MarchForIsrael rally. Rob told us he never had a Bar Mitzvah or put on Teffilin in his life. He told us that his grandfather left him a pair of Teffilin that he wore, but it got lost and he never put them on.
Rob told us with tears in his eyes how happy he was to do this mitzvah and have his Bar Mitzvah now on the train to #MarchForIsrael and specifically for the miraculous return of the hostages.
@DansDeals Go @jjeleff! Everyone else pls go to https://t.co/UkxDHlGaYx to send tefillin to the IDF. Proud that https://t.co/mso8ER4CGy is a lead sponsor of the campaign
@Abramjee You know very well that it was an ILLEGAL pro-Palestinian rally, designed shut down the free speech of a Christian pro-Israel rally. You’ve revealed your hamasISIS loving self. Suddenly the law is for thee, not for me? For shame
