This weekend, in the middle of America's heartland (Lake Dillon, OH), Belen Jesuit Crew participated in the annual SRAA Regatta, a gathering of the nation's top elite high school rowing programs. #BelenCrew had 5 entries and placed in ALL but one, taking 2 silvers and 2 bronze.
Belen beat out fellow Jesuit and friendly rival St. Joe's Prep in 2 of the 3 events where they competed head to head. This has been an eventful season but despite these challenges, Coach Yunian's leadership and support, accompanied by Coaches Waya, Fidel and Lorenzo,
This weekend marked the beginning of the Belen Crew's Varsity & Freshmen squads most intense, month-long series of regattas. Under dark and rainy skies at Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge, TN, #BelenCrew competed in the USRowing Southeast Youth Championships. The team had 8 entries,
result, a Mens Youth Ltwt 2x, a Mens Youth Ltwt 4+ and a Mens Ltwt 8+ will compete in Sarasota (FL) during the first week of June. First, the team will travel to Lake Dillon, Ohio over Memorial Day weekend to participate at the Scholastic Nationals Championships.

Over the weekend in Sarasota, competing in a field of 42 schools and clubs and more than 260 rowers, #BelenCrew laid claim to 5 State Titles including 2 taken by Freshmen boats, and likewise brought home the Overall Boys Scholastic Trophy. The team earned a record 4🥇, plus 1🥈
in the last race of the weekend, Belen's Varsity 8, the same lightweight boat that prevailed 3 weeks ago in San Diego, took🥉in an open weight category. While the favorite Sarasota took 1st place, the following 3 boats were separated by a mere 0.55 seconds with Belen taking🥉.

Over the weekend, #BelenCrew participated in the Florida State Rowing Assn. Sculling Championships and the team was able to secure 7 State Scholastic Titles including a Freshman Quad and 3 Lightweight boats. Our medal count totaled 4: 🥈🥈🥈🥉. The competition was fierce,
particularly from larger club organizations like Miami Rowing Club, Sarasota Crew and Miami Beach Rowing Club who draw from a larger pool of athletes, and who also specialize in sculling. However, the Wolverines' spirit endured, fueled by Coach Yunian, Coach Waya and Coach Fidel.

Over the weekend, #BelenCrew participated in the San Diego Crew Classic, one of the top regattas in the nation, attracting over 100 universities, high schools & clubs from across the country. This year #BelenJesuit attended with two 8s: a Varsity & a Lightweight. The Varsity
final sprint and beat out Marin by 1/2 a boat length. This was a particularly sweet victory, not only for the entire team but for everyone involved with Belen Crew in light of the difficulties and obstacles that have been thrown at the team this year.
