Why is a 78 year old man attempting to canoe down the river Thames?
To give back to Harefield Hospital for their outstanding treatment he received during his battle with cancer.
137 miles from source to it's tidal edge unsupported.

@Matt_Pinner A, it has the mist hanging over the water. Gives me a cold feeling at the start of the morning. Yet clear skies show it'll warm up.
Also the mist gives it a calming and mysterious atmosphere.
The small boats give it a homely and wholesome connection, the icing on the cake.
A bridge over the Thames.
This would have been between Lechlade and St Johns Lock.
The river is narrow and the greenery is overgrowing.

Pillbox overlooked by the Spire of St Lawrence Church.
Many of these pillboxes line the Thames dating back to preparations made by Britain in case of Nazi invasion.

The locks on the Thames are a brilliant concept. Operated by lock keepers. Who's garden we pass through in our canoe. @EnvAgency your staff were great, friendly and extremely helpful.
The manual locks gave us the most joy, but we were grateful for all of them. Thanks to you all.
