It always amazes me how people only see the $10 million and think:

“Wow, he will never have this opportunity again.”

Maybe.

But you have to look at the next 30–40 years, not just one hand.

Winning $10 million creates challenges most people are not prepared for. Ego. Complacency. Taking success for granted. Many players have had one massive score and lost millions in the years after.

A brutal knockout like this can also become one of the most valuable lessons of your career.

You learn how unforgiving poker can be. The next time you have a huge stack, you remember what happened. You stay more focused, punt less often and protect your opportunities better.
That lesson could generate far more than $10 million over an entire career.

Maybe he wins $1 million next year. Then $2 million the year after and so on... Maybe this becomes the fuel that turns him into an absolute dominant force for years.

I am not saying losing is better than winning.

I am saying both outcomes come with different battles.
The weak mentality spends years blaming the bad beat:
“If I had won that hand or tournament, my entire life would be different.”

Of course, a winner will also feel broken and frustrated for a while. But eventually, he understands that it was another knockout. Painful, brutal, but also motivation to work harder and get back there.

When I bubbled the final table of the WSOP Online Main Event in 2023, I was devastated. But I told myself:
“One day, I will get there.”
The next year, I made the final table and finished 8th.
Again, I told myself I would work my ass off and come back stronger. Again so close to win 3-4mio, which is insane for online Poker.
The year after, 2025, I won it.

Success after hardship often has a better chance of lasting (that's why lottery winners lose it often very quickly)
You appreciate it more. You protect it harder. And you become much better at controlling the voice inside your head telling you how amazing you are.

He should not be happy about what happened.
But there is meaning in these moments. And very often we don't see the them right away.
That's a moment where many will break. And dwell in blame and resentment. Or long lasting champions are born.

I got plenty of DMs of people "If I would have won this Tournaments years ago.. I would have ..." Those people made their choice. Staying in the weak, loser mentality.

You either dwell on them, blame everyone and stay resentful for ever. Always blaming your circumstances.

Or you use them as fuel to improve and try again and ultimately build a consistent long lasting career and making shit ton of money.

🔸ポーカーというコンテンツについて
競技人口や店舗数の急増が物語っている通り、めちゃくちゃ面白いです。運や実力のバランスが絶妙ですし、新しい友人やコミュニティが出来ていくのも楽しく、大���になってこんなにハマるものに出会えると思っていませんでした。これはタピオカやシーシャみたいな一過性の流行りではなく、囲碁や将棋、麻雀のように、きっと日本人の文化として根付いていくものだと感じています。

🔸コンテンツだけを提供すれば良い時代は終わり？
僕は2019年のコロナ前にポーカーを始めたので、プレイヤーとしては約7年になります。新参者の僕が知っている7年だけでもめちゃくちゃポーカー店が増えました。この7年でポーカールームも体感倍くらいになった感覚です。2026年現在、ポーカールームがいつくあるのかは知りませんが、2025年に入ってから毎月のようにポーカールームのグランドオープンの告知がXで飛び交っています。コロナ明けから世界のヨコサワさん(@MasatoYokosawa )の影響でポーカーを始めた���レイヤーの方々がその魅力にハマり、自身で個人店のポーカールームを開業しだしたのが、2024～2026年現在の開業ラッシュの背景だと思っています。個人の感覚では、本業を別に持っている方がサイドビジネスでポーカー店を出している方が多い印象です。一方で、2026年に入ってから閉店する店舗の告知も多く見かけるようになりました。むさぽ名古屋のオーナーのhamuさん(@86Spoker )さんが、「2026年は一番ポーカー屋が出来て、一番ポーカー屋が潰れる年になる」と年末か年始に仰っていましたが、まさしくその通りになっている感覚です。それだけ競合が多く、競争が激化して来ていて、何年か前までは「ポーカーが出来るだけ」で成り立っていたものが、立ち行かなくなって来ているのだとみています。ポーカーという「コンテンツをただ提供すれば儲かっていた時代」は終わり、+aの価値を生み出せない、生み出そうとしない店舗は淘汰されて、確実に潰れていきます。

🔸二極化する？店舗経営
このポーカールーム戦国時代(勝手に名付けました)に残る店舗は大きく２つあり、二極化していくと思ってます。それは「オッズで勝つ店舗」と「体験価値を追求する店舗」です。前者は経済的価値があるであろうプライズの保証を大きくして、還元率を高め、圧倒的な「オッズの良さ」で戦う店舗です。まだまだ国内のプレイヤーの多くはそれが魅力でポーカーをしていると思います。もっとも海外に行けば、お金をかけてプレーをするのが当たり前で、うちにくる海外のお客様も「お金に変えれないポーカーをして何が楽しいんだい?日本人はクレイジーだね🤪」とよく冗談混じりでおっしゃっているので、「賭けないと楽しくなくね?」っていう感覚の方が多数派で、それはプレイヤーとしてはある意味正常とも思います。なので、オッズで戦う店は、もちろん経営努力もさ��ているはずなので、大きく社会情勢が変わらない限りは残り続けていく店舗だと思います。
一方で��者は、「体験価値を売る店舗」です。トーナメントであれば、「演出」で盛り上げ、「賞賛」がプライズなのかもしれません。うちのようなリングがメインの店舗であれば、ハンドショーポーカーや座学系のイベント、上級者からアドバイスが貰える配信イベントやノーレートだけど、真剣なポーカーが出来る環境が「体験価値」に当たると思います。あるいは初心者専門店みたいなお店があるならば、それはそれで価値だと思います。ポーカーの内容はぐちゃぐちゃだけど、お酒を片手に圧倒的なコミュニティの力で全員がケタケタ笑ってポーカーをしてるお店もそれは素晴らしい価値提供だと思います。

🔸それぞれの苦しいところ
経済的オッズで戦う店の苦しいところは、システムや法律などの変更・改正などで、提供しているプライズや仕組み自��がそれらの外的要因によって一気に崩壊してしまう可能性があることです。例えば、「サテライトのチケットをプライズにすることが風営法の改正などにより違法になった」、「独自ポイントの流通が出来なくなった」など、他社の商材に依存している限り、この問題が無くなることはないと思います。そして少しずつその波は近づいて来ていると感じています。さらに言えば、ポーカー店が増え、店舗間でのオッズ合戦が繰り広げられている現状もかなり苦しいはずです。
一方、体験価値で戦う店の苦しいところは、「純粋な体験価値にだけに対価を払う」人たちの母数がまだまだプレイヤーとして少ないこと、「自社で体験価値を創出することの難易度が高いこと」です。これは僕がむさぽFCに加盟した大きな理由の一つでもあります。ポーカー店を開きたいと思ってから、3年以上「オッズじゃない価値を

cbet flop, check back turn, bluff catch river.

it’s made me more money than anything else.

if i’m in position and get to the turn with showdown value, i almost always check back.

why? because my opponents tell me what to do on the river.

they stab small? call. they’re overbluffing.

they stab big? fold. they’re underbluffing.

they check? consider value betting super thin, they’re almost never trapping.

easy game.
