If there’s anything this island prides itself on more regardless of religion or constitutional question is the history of the indomitable fighting spirit. “No Surrender” or “Our day will come” signify this insatiable desire to keep up the fight no matter the opposing force.
The Irish (along with the Germans) were the best fighters America ever had.
They came to America and fought for their citizenship.
They became patriotic Americans, whose sons enlisted, and grandsons, and great grandsons.
Irish Americans hold the distinction of receiving more Medals of Honor than any other ethnic group in U.S. history.
2,021 out of 3,530 total Medals of Honor awarded have gone to recipients of Irish descent, representing about 58% of all awards.
This is more than twice the number awarded to any other single ethnic group.
Of these, 257 were Irish-born immigrants, accounting for over half of all foreign-born recipients.
Only 19 people in U.S. history have received two Medal of Honors, with eight of them being of Irish descent.
Absolutely disgraceful to compare the Irish with the current breed of immigrants, who actively hate America, and only view it as a means of economic subsistence.
This is the exact thing I’ve stated before. Irish nationalism has essentially sold its soul to the left of politics. You cannot have an opinion of social issues thanks to this drumming of left wing politics into the national consciousness and identity of Ireland.
