His shirt vanished halfway through the attempt of cooking supper, wearing only his calf-length trousers and an apron.
He blinks the steam from his eyes as he carefully watches the flour in the pan for it to turn to the soft brown he's looking for.

The hybrid stands from where he normally keeps his vigil and makes his way into the kitchen, whipping up a quick treat and brewing a cup of hot cocoa for the spellweaver.

Why get up when the bearkit could just stay in bed forever?
Curtains closed, candles softly glowing, and the little mage tightly tucked into a mound of blankets.
Only the soft pace of her breathing and the low grumblings of her soon-to-be needy tummy fill the room.
Following her silent urging to look at her, his honey-golden eyes molten in the fading sunlight, her gaze captivating his own. Sighing contentedly at the touch of her digits.

His face turns sheepish as his voice trembled with mock severity.
"No ma'am, no final words. Just one final request. I'd like to enjoy me favorite meal one last time before I perish."
He squeezes her a little tighter, burying his snoot into the voluminous locks of her hair.

"Go n-éirí an bóthar leat. May the road rise to meet you," before he returned to his directionless path, leaving the umbrella as a promise that the rain is not eternal.
Conroy had been idly wandering when the weather turned and, through sheer luck, had brought an umbrella. Poppint it open as the rain began to fall without remorse, he continued his meandering past the now deserted beach.
At least, it had seemed deserted. That was, until he had -

—————————
The rain had been falling since dawn.
Not hard. Not violent. Constant.
The kind of rain that didn’t ask permission. It drifted in sideways off the Pacific, clung to fur like memory, soaked through denim and wool and every carefully built wall a person thought they had.
Kylie stood barefoot where the tide kissed the sand, her boots abandoned somewhere farther up the beach beside a piece of driftwood silvered by age. The ocean stretched endlessly in front of her, black and slate and angry beneath a bruised sky.
Waves crashed against jagged rock with enough force to shake the ground beneath her feet thats barely noticed.
Her jeans were soaked to the knee. Her dark sweatshirt clung to her frame, heavy with rainwater, hair plastered against her cheeks in tangled strands. Anyone passing by would’ve probably thought she looked peaceful.
That was the thing about her…
She’d mastered looking peaceful.
She smiled at the right moments. Laughed when people expected her to. Knew exactly how to tilt her head and soften her eyes so nobody ever asked the dangerous questions.
“You okay?”
Because if someone ever asked it and meant it… She wasn’t sure she could lie.
Another wave rolled in, cold water swallowing her ankles before retreating back into the sea. She shit her eyes, and for a moment… She let herself stop pretending.
Her shoulders shook first.
Then her breathing hitched.
Then suddenly it was all there—every thought she’d shoved into quiet corners of herself, every insecurity, every fear, every ugly little voice she spent her waking hours outrunning.
‘You’re exhausting.
Too much.
Not enough.
Hard to love.
Easy to leave.
Worthless.
Ugly.’
Her jaw clenched.
“No,” she whispered, though there was nobody there to hear it. The wind stole the word before it fully left her mouth.
Digits curled into fists at her sides as tears mixed seamlessly with the rain. Convenient, really, the weather hid what she never let anyone see.
Her knees finally gave out, dropping her into the wet sand. She wrapped her arms around herself like she was trying to hold together pieces no one else even knew were cracked.
The ocean roared in front of her like it understood, like it had seen thousands of people come here carrying things too heavy to name.
Kylie tipped her face toward the sky, rain striking her fur like tiny needles, and for the first time in… Longer than she wanted to admit; She stopped fighting it.
Stopped trying to be the strong one.
Stopped trying to be the easy one.
Stopped trying to be the version of herself everyone else found comfortable.
And somewhere between the thunder in the distance and the salt on her lips…
She cried.
Not pretty.
Not quietly.
Not the kind of tears you wipe away before anyone notices. The kind that came from somewhere old.
Somewhere deep.
The kind that left your chest aching afterward… But lighter.
And when it finally passed, when her breathing steadied and the trembling eased, she sat there in the rain with soaked clothes, numb fingers, and matted fur she’d definitely regret later.
the rain immediately soaking through his clothes and gluing the fabrid to his body. The chill didn't bother him and, to be honest, neither did the rain. He had felt them all before and would again many times before his hourglass ran out.
