Eric Platford pictured, aged 18 at the original Royce Works at Cooke Street, Manchester 1900.
Eric was one of two apprentices chosen by Henry Royce to work on the development of his first car.
Eric went on to become Chief Tester with Rolls-Royce in 1907.
