Why study religion? We love to explore belief systems, and how people create meaning for themselves. This helps us develop our own views: Know Yourself!
4th Form GCSE RS and Higher RMPS
Getting to know more about Jewish life and worship at Giffnock Shul, Mark's Deli and Glasgow Reform Synagogue - lots of lovely people helped make our day a special one!
RS / RMPS Teachers:
With the exceptions of NATRE's Spirited Arts and St Andrews' Ethics Cup - do you know any other national competitions aimed at our subject area?
Thanks!

Studied for a BD at St Andrews in the old days (early 90's), but very proud to see St Mary's College is once again one of the top-ranked divinity departments in the UK.
Adored every minute of my time in St Andrews!
St Andrews is ranked as the top university in Scotland and fourth in the UK in the 2027 Complete University Guide. Our School of Mathematics & Statistics is top in UK, with a further 10 subjects in the top three. 👏

Nothing to do with RS, but can I give a shout-out to ...
The Little Fort Deli in Dunning.
I had a ham salad ciabatta and a strawberry smoothie and they were just delicious. 😋 Please support this small family business if you can!

4th Form are ready for their summer exam.
They're doing a full GCSE paper on Judaism and Ethics, covering 32 possible topics:
(Another 32 topics on Christianity, Peace and Conflict before they are ready to sit the full exam in May 2027!)
@RetroNewsNow Bea's great but Erik Per Sullivan plays his part too. My 3rd Form recently watched The Cider House Rules and really enjoyed him as Fuzzy - several recognised him from the original Malcolm series.
@MysteriosoX "Look at my Mingis pencil case."
I can see why this pronunciation never caught on.
BTW they still distribute newspapers to local businesses.
Such sad, sad news.
I remember Scott well from my own school days, when he was captain of the 1st XV, and was thrilled to watch the Hastings brothers help the Scottish team to victory in 1990.
He was inspirational, and so many will miss him.

Strathallan is producing a booklet to help older pupils think ahead to what they might want to do as further study and careers.
Here's the page I've written for Philosophy / RS / Theology:
Last lesson before the first GCSE RS exam and one of my pupils is looking wistfully around the classroom.
She says she can't believe that her GCSE journey is over.
Luckily she'll be back to start Higher RMPS in less than a month!
