@NomosEvents As i understand it a big issue is that the houses are going straight to developers who are selling to foreigners for second homes or investment housing
@reapersaurus@Babygravy9 This is less so in British english departments than I've heard in american tbh. They want to get to the same point but in both departments i've been in, youre still expected to read the canon and do serious close reading
@Babygravy9 I actually think the issue is much worse in the social sciences than the humanities because they can hide behind bs methodologies. humanities still requires extensive longform verbal argument and has to derive the bs from a serious activity, whereas sociology can cut to the chase
@_kruptos It's probs very intellectually stimulating for the engineer types. I respect it more as an excersise than most of the ai hyper stuff tbh. at least its not flooding my youtube and timeline
@realronswansea@sepe_aeturnum personally im sceptical that a technology which cannot complete a reference list in a consistent format or order it alphabetically without hallucinating can really be trusted. i suspect the time saving is just spent on double checking and editing the output
@realronswansea@sepe_aeturnum anecdotally, in industries where there's a disparate time to task ratio all the added time gets eaten up by other stuff anyway tbh
@sepe_aeturnum@realronswansea basically all the ceo reports i come across. tracks with the data that there's no commensurate revenue stream for these things for the cost. we will only see what long term role llms have when the inevitable speculation crash happens
One of the things that makes me uneasy about the online postliberals is the constant feeling of having stumbled some esoteric cult of people who are all reading the same obscure books and blogs behind the scenes.
Where are they all suddenly Huey Long fans? Why are they all reading Julius Evola and Schmitt? Is there a secret discord server somewhere? Is there an underground club? It’s all a bit creepy.
@sepe_aeturnum@realronswansea The data doesn't seem to actually show productivity boosts though. This is the one area i would expect ai to add value but it seems to mistake prone
@NickDixon I always thought it connoted the very low managerial levels, largely women, unnatural hair colours, in charge of something very petty and will push their DEI lgbt stuff into it with gusto.
@emily_sipiora ive come to the conclusion that there are dark forces promoting the most retarded female takes to get them all to follow the trend as some kind of self humiliation in order to fuel the gender war
@lueyee I genuinely don;'t see whats so hard about "hugh, thats a nice image/statue, it reminds me of Jesus or Mary, i'll say a quick prayer to/for the depicted person". Are only northern europeans capable or being normal about images?
@ArsVampyre@Blizzox2@RichardDawkins people forget that there was a firewall against the story and first and then the flood gates opened when it was decided to cut ties with him to try and individualise the bigger issue (that there is a class of manufactured intellectually borderline disabled academics)
@NassimNoUnoff@ShareefaEnergy It was designed for people who don't know the lingo. he didn't do anything with that lingo he merely repeated a bunch of cliches and gave no analysis or original insight. i would give an a level student a low D if they did that in essay form; i'd mark his phd an E at A level
@ShareefaEnergy WHat do you want? FOr everyone to fellate arday's corpse? He had no academic worth and Bastani is frankly lying about that out of some guilt or to appease you here. What more do you want? How much of a lie is enough?
@novaramedia just because it's sad that a liar died doesn't mean the liar didn't lie. i really can't comprehend a mind that can't hold those two things together
