I've just learned that Dr. Refaat Alareer, along with several family members, has been murdered in an Israeli airstrike.

I'm in tears and sick to my stomach as I write this.

I had the great honor to spend time with Refaat during my time in Gaza, including harvesting olives with him in 2015 in his home neighborhood of Shujaiya.

I visited him in the Islamic University of Gaza, where he used English-language literature and poetry to teach his students the difference between Judaism and Zionism, equipping them with the mental tools to resist Zionist propaganda that seeks to conflate the two.

Refaat was a guiding light as a I documented life and death for my documentary, Killing Gaza. He helped me gain access to elders in his neighborhood who provided testimony of shocking Israeli war crimes.

In one of our last exchanges, I told him that, in my time in Gaza, I felt as though I were documenting the Warsaw Ghetto before its liquidation by Nazis. I promised him that his writings would be featured in a future Victims of Zionism museum. I didn't imagine that would be my last message to him.

Refaat Alareer embraced everything good and pure about Gaza and Palestine. He will not be forgotten and his legacy will live on for many generations to come.

Rest in peace, Refaat.

نتذكر الآن ما قاله لنا وبكلّ وضوح "عندما نكتب عن الشهداء، يجب أن نذكر أن الاحتلال قتلهم. يجب أن لا نترك الفعل للمجه��ل".

الآن سنقول لكل العالم، الاحتلال قتل رفعت العرعير.
الاحتلال قتل وأباد عائلته، قتل كل الشهداء.
الآن نودّعه، ونحن نحزن ونتألم، نكتب ونتألم، ونُعاهده أن نُكمل هذه الفكرة التي بدأت معه، وساعد فيها، وكان أحد مؤسسيها.

I’ve seen this @MIT student on Jake Tappers show @CNN. Here she’s speaking to the house GOP and was kind enough to give me a personal shout out. I never thought my speech would make it so far, thank you for amplifying my statements (~1:28 mark)!

Weird, why am I never invited to share my experience as a Palestinian with the establishment? Why does she feel that her safety and comfort should take priority over mine?

She claims Jewish students feel the need to hide their perspectives, yet the Zionists among them have not been shy in their incessant emails to admin, trying to get me fired for speaking my own. She doesn’t seem very intimidated complaining about me and the CAA to the US congress.

It’s incredible how frustrated Zionists get when their perceived supremacy is challenged by the tolerance of Palestinian voices on campus.

Would it help these students feel less alone if I shared the hundreds of hate messages & threats I’ve received since Oct. 7? Perhaps invite me to speak with them directly in a formal setting, maybe then they might understand that I also just want to do science in peace?

Anyway, I don’t know who this is and I’m not too interested either. I just wanted to point out the clear double standards, and express my admiration towards MIT for remaining principled thus far; truly exercising equity and inclusivity. I honestly wasn’t expecting it.

كان بكل عافيته عندما رأيته آخر مرة! كان يمكن أن ينجو بعلاج بسيط! لكن قدر الله غالب!

- The Israeli army has released a map dividing the Gaza Strip into over 2300 small blocks.
- The army has requested Gaza residents to identify the block number they reside in using the map.
- The occupation will later inform residents of Block (X) to move to Block (Z), implementing a new forced displacement as part of its genocide in Gaza.
- the vast majority of Palestinians in Gaza do NOT have electricity or internet due to the Israeli aggression.
- This division follows the United States' request for Israel not to resume the war before laying out a plan to protect civilians.
- This diabolical plan will serve as justification for mass casualties and forced displacement.

In summary, in the second phase of the war, "Israel" continues killing and forced displacing but in a more professional manner this time. The world rejected indiscriminate killing, so there's a shift towards organized killing.

منذ اندلاع الصراع في السودان في 15 أبريل 2023، شهدت البلاد خسائر بشرية هائلة بأكثر من 11.000 قتيل، وتضرر ما يقارب 60 ألف طفل من سوء التغذية، إلى جانب نزوح حوالي 6 ملايين شخص. الحرب، التي تُعد أشد النزاعات في أفريقيا من ناحية العدة والعتاد العسكري، شهدت مواجهات بدأت بين فصائل الجيش السوداني، -تدعمهما قوى إقليمية ودولية مصالحها الخاصة، خاصةً مناجم الذهب- واليوم توسعت لتشمل البلاد بأسرها.

وقعت أعمال عنف وإبادة جماعية على يد الجنجويد ضد سكان اردمتا بغرب دارفور الجنينة، تضمنت اغتصاب، قتل ومجازر عرقية. هناك مخاوف متزايدة من تكرار سيناريو الإبادة الجماعية على غرار ما حدث في رواندا، إذا تم التغاضي عن الأحداث في السودان.

وتحدثت تقارير عن حالات اختطاف واستغلال جنسي للفتيات القاصرات في الخرطوم الكبرى، حيث تم نقلهن إلى معسكر لجنود الدعم السريع في ود العقالي ليتم إجبارهن على العبودية الجنسية. وقد كشفت تقارير من غرف الطوارئ بالخرطوم عن وجود نمط منهجي لاختطاف النساء والفتيات لأغراض الاسترقاق الجنسي أو الفدية أو البيع.

في هذا السياق، دعت 50 منظمة غير حكومية ومنظمات المجتمع المدني الأمريكية إلى إعلان السودان "في حالة فظاعة"، في رسالة بعثت بها إلى وزير الخارجية الأمريكي أنتوني بلينكن في 30 نوفمبر 2023. وقد أدان الموقعون العنف العرقي في دارفور، مشيرين إلى تشابهه مع الإبادة الجماعية التي بدأت قبل 20 عاماً. وحذر مبعوث الأمم المتحدة الخاص لمنع الإبادة الجماعية من الانتهاكات في دارفور، حيث قُتل أكثر من 1500 شخص من مجتمع المساليت في بداية نوفمبر وحده.
