If we’re going to use statistics to shape public opinion and policy, the way those statistics are produced matters. Inflated or unsound estimates don’t help victims…they undermine confidence in genuine evidence.

And if the concern is child sexual abuse, then the concern should be all child sexual abuse. Focusing on one subset while ignoring others creates a distorted picture of the problem.

Victims deserve honesty, not selective statistics or selective outrage.
