Today, I visited the Accra Digital Centre to assess the extent of the damage caused by yesterday’s floods.
It was heartbreaking to witness the impact on businesses, innovators, entrepreneurs and the many young people whose work has been disrupted. My thoughts are with everyone affected, and I sincerely hope for a swift recovery.
The Accra Digital Centre is our premier hub for startups and young innovators. We also run a learning centre as part of the One Million Coders Programme.
The damage to equipment and infrastructure is severe and will require substantial resources to get the Hub back to full functionality.
I have assured the affected businesses and the Centre's management that we will engage with the relevant stakeholders to support recovery efforts and explore practical measures to reduce the risk of similar incidents in the future.
To everyone still dealing with the aftermath of the floods, please continue to stay safe as the rains persist. Let us all do our part to keep our environment clean and our drains free from waste.
For God and Country.🦁🇬🇭

That aspect of the problem is beyond our control because it is driven by changing climatic conditions. There is the issue of human behaviour.
Whenever government begins removing structures built in waterways, some people accuse us of being inhumane. Yet when disasters such as today's flooding occur, the consequences affect everyone. The irresponsible actions of a few individuals end up putting entire communities at risk.
