Just like how it is important to be reflecting and learning on past platforms. This entire textbook has challenged me to think critically on social media and be continually open minded to different ways to market your brand. #stco422
"There's always something new" (Mcdonald, 2024). That is a beautiful and exciting takeaway from the Epilogue of the textbook. All social media is ever evolving and it is important to be looking ahead at the future. #stco422
"There's always something new" (Mcdonald, 2024). That is a beautiful and relevant takeaway from the Epilogue of the textbook. All social media is ever evolving and it is important to be looking ahead at the future.
I felt challenged from this chapter when the topic of promoting the marketing list was discussed. It is important in social media to know your audience well and how to correctly get their attention.
A surprising comment made in Chapter 12 on Email Marketing was how "people hate email marketing" (Mcdonald, 2024). The transparency is a funny observation! I personally ignore email marketing but I know my mom notices it and uses the ads for better deals on online shopping!
A significant connection I made from this chapter and in-class discussions is how the inspiration people recieve from Pinterest is how we also get inspired by our classmate's when discussing content ideas together.
What I enjoyed about Pinterest in this chapter is how it is discussed as a "social bookmarking system" (Mcdonald, 2024). I personally always enjoy viewing other people's pins and getting inspiration.
An extremely significant connection between this chapter and in-class discussions is the topic of UGC. Our entire class is practicing UGC and learning how it functions on different platforms. TikTok is especially crucial for excecuting UGC.
What intrigued me about this week's reading about TikTok was how the chapter transparently pointed out that a lot of people assume TikTok is just for teenage girls (Mcdonald, 2024). Since I am technically the demographic for that assumption that observance interested me.
"All in all, Facebook provides excellent insights into who is interacting with your posts and Page" (Mcdonald, 2024). This quote from Ch.5 is surprises me about Facebook since I do not regularly use it, but I did not expect good analytics! #stco422
One part of Chapter 5: Facebook that disappoints me is how you can pay Facebook to boost your own post so the algorithm prioritizes it. I prefer the natural algorithm rhythm rather than people paying for priority. #stco422
Something I was slightly disappointed in was the concept of keeping secrets in social media tools. I want to learn and understand different brand's talented marketing techniques, but if it is important to be secretive how will that happen? #stco422
Social media is a wild world of all facets of media intertwined, so the need for structure sometimes feels impossible but, in marketing, it can positively boost your content! If I want to work in content production I will need to implement a structural schedule. #stco422
The prompt of finding and monitoring brands that I admire has challenged me to genuinely go out and do this! There are so many brands that I love and if I want to suceed in marketing I should try to learn something from their work. #stco422
"Throwing a party, however, is something entirely different from attending a party" (Mcdonald, 2024). I was very intrigued by this analogy that Ch. 2: Party On used. It is hard for me to distinguish my skillset between using and working in social media. #stco422
What excited me about this chapter is the question of what, in a social media aspect, will hook your customer? "Your to-do here is a) define your brand, and b) your branding tasks" (Mcdonald, 2024). I look forward to defining my customer-centric goals in my future career.#stco422
In Chapter 1: Marketing Basics a big connection that I immediately see between the contents of the chapter and the in-class discussions we have already began to have is the importance of nurturing your brand tribe. #stco422
The words "brand tribe" is how the brand identity is referenced in the textbook. In STCO 422 we will be working together to build a consistent brand identity so that the followers can engage and understand the fluidity of each post we make. #stco422
