Immer mehr Videos zeigen russische Jugendliche und Männer, die von den Behörden ohne jeden ersichtlichen Grund in Busse gesteckt und verschleppt werden.

➡️Gleichzeitig gehen die „freiwilligen“ / geldgebundenen Rekrutierungen für den Krieg in der Ukraine in vielen russischen Regionen dramatisch zurück – bei steigenden Opferzahlen an der Front.

🚨Kann sich nur noch um Stunden handeln, bis @AfD und @BSWbund die #Zwangsrekrutierungen in Russland verurteilen und Putin auffordern, nicht noch mehr Männer für einen sinnlosen Krieg im Nachbarland zu opfern.

A judicial source told me that all investigations initiated so far into the matter have found no robust evidence. Very long thread short: After six months of research, the first of three planned stories has today been published in F.A.Z. Two further stories will follow.

Too many journalists and populist politicians fell for this story, that will probably lead nowhere, at least as far as the claim of “hundreds of wealthy killers” traveling to Sarajevo for fun is concerned.

The problem with this story, however, is not Zupanič, Gavazzeni and Margetić. It is not forbidden to publish bad films and dumb books. What is troubling is something else:

Margetić’s living witnesses, by contrast, are either anonymous or of dubious credibility. But just like even paranoiacs can really be followed, a conspiracy artist can be right sometimes. There is one element in Margetić’s book that is not false. More on that in mid-July.

In any case, a pattern is striking in Margetić’s work: at least four clearly named witnesses apparently knew everything amount about the “Sarajevo Safari” and told, of all people, Margetić all about it. But all four are dead.

1: Manolić is dead. He died in 2024, in his 105th year. Is there an audio recording that could substantiate the alleged statements attributed to Manolić in the book, reproduced down to every comma? Or at least notes? Or is Margetić a memory artist?

According to an interview reproduced over many pages in the book, Manolić is supposed to have told Margetić’s in great detail about the alleged human hunts in Sarajevo as early as 1995. Two things stand out here though:

To be fair: sometimes Margetić’s witnesses are not merely anonymous “Dragans” or “Jovans”, but people named in full. Such as Croatia’s former prime minister and intelligence chief Josip Manolić.

“After the war, the King’s people operated here to check whether there were any traces of his killings and rapes, whether there were any evidence or witnesses who could recognise him; they dug everywhere just to prevent anything about it from becoming known or leaking out.”

“Dragan” is said to have belonged to a Serbian unit responsible for the “logistics” of the royal visit. During breaks from killing children, the king apparently liked to amuse himself by raping young girls, who then disappeared, we read in Margetić’s book. One “witness” says:

“The king loved killing children. (...) Sometimes he chose small children whose mothers were holding them in their arms, or at least by the hand.” Thinking of the Epstein-files, this does seem possible. But what is the source in this case? A certain “Dragan”.

In the book, for example, he claims: “A European king came to kill children from Sarajevo and rape women (…)” Among the human hunters of Sarajevo, the book says, there was “at least” one crowned head from Europe.
