Some of them I didn't know before someone invited them to join the trip. Many of them I only see in the trip. Golf is so much more than a game. It's a community. It's a shared experience. Golf has an interesting problem.

Record rounds were recorded in the United States last year at 531 million. Up 4% from last year.

It is the fourth year in a row with more than 500 million rounds.

And golf rounds have increased by 90 million since 2019.

But there is a rub with the increase in golf rounds.

Golf course supply has decreased. From 2006 to 2022 golf course supply has contracted by 13%.

Tee sheets are packed at golf courses.

And tee time cancelations are having a seven figure revenue impact at some golf courses.

It goes beyond the green fees - it spills over to F&B and merchandise.

I chatted with two golf course operators to see how many rounds they have canceled and what they are doing about it.

One golf course had nearly 10,000 rounds canceled in one year.

Another had over 1,500 in one month spread across four golf courses.

Truly a fascinating issue operators are dealing with. And technology is solving the problem.
