@FreemanrugbyJPN That seems a stretch. They are NOT eligible to play for Japan until they have done the five years, technically or otherwise..
I guess I can see their end game and perhaps a grandfather clause to cover existing players would help.
@FreemanrugbyJPN How can a player be "Eligible to play for Japan" when he is not currently eligible under WR rules?
I get the Sevens changing concept but, as a general rule, how can that be a logical eligibility test .....
When is a Japanese citizen not Japanese?
When he plays in the Japan Rugby Top League.
Rule change leaves 3 naturalised players in limbo.

I am a great supporter of Japan Rugby
BUT Change needs to be made or Japan will remain, at best , "the best Asian Team in World Rugby."
There is clearly a wealth of talent in University rugby and Japan Under 20...
please, please .. unleash this potential..
Have often been told I am too negative when it comes to JRFU.
So hopefully people will listen instead to #BraveBlossoms captain @g_leitch
I for one would support him becoming "the CEO of Japanese rugby one day."

HUGE NEWS here for Prem XVs, thought it was on the cards with menโs championship reduced funding. Some will approve others will not but must keep the game moving forward.
#TopLeague side Hino Red Dolphins have stopped all activities indefinitely after one of their players was arrested March 4 for illegal drug use.

@FreemanrugbyJPN @rdctokyoAFP Latest from the rest of Asia Rugby. This is ALL scheduled Men's 15's Test matches from Asia Rugby Championship down to the various regional Divisions 3 and 4 unions ..
Lot of decisions need to be made by JRFU re #CoronavirusOutbreak
Am hearing 3 rounds could be affected.
Big question is will they be cancelled or postponed?
Announcement expected this afternoon - #SuperRugby decision expected tomorrow.

Seems the press release from #Sunwolves yesterday was slightly misleading.
My source telling me Chris Eves & Ben Te'o are not injured - they are simply being rested.
Jordan Jackson-Hope, however, is out for around 6 weeks with a knee injury.
