Karan Thapar’s paternal grandfather Diwan Bahadur Kunj Behari Thapar was a wealthy Punjabi elite and commission agent who worked closely with the British.
He was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 1920 in recognition of his loyalty to the Crown.
Historical records note that he was among the prominent Indian figures and loyalists who contributed funds to support Punjab Governor Motherboard Michael O'Dwyer and General Reginald Dyer following the events of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
Karan Thapar's father, General Pran Nath Thapar, lost the 1962 war against China, the only Indian Army Chief to have lost a war.
Pran Nath Thapar's wife's brother was married to Jawaharlal Nehru's niece. He used this connection to become Army Chief in 1961 and resigned after India lost to China in 1962.
When Gen. K. S. Thimayya was about to retire in 1961, it was expected that Lt. Gen. S. P. P. Thorat would become the Army Chief. Sadly, Pran Nath Thapar became Army Chief, and the rest is history.
Interestingly, Gen. Thorat wrote to his seniors about the “Chinese Threat” in 1959, but he was declared a warmonger by Nehru and his Defence Minister.
Karan Thapar's cousin, Romesh Thapar, was a hardcore Communist and member of CPI(M). He started a magazine that reportedly received a lot of government advertisements, and government departments were allegedly forced to buy it. A very stable economic model.
Karan Thapar's cousin, Romila Thapar, is a famous Marxist historian known for distorting history. She is a big fan of the Mughals and claimed that no historical remains of Ram Mandir were found during excavation.
Congress was in power and planted these British Loyalist leftists in media, academia, and the judiciary.
