@centre4policy@MoWT_Uganda@PoliceUg@UNRSC@RoadSafetyNGOs@grspartnership@IncubatorGHAI This is yet another area that we need to critically look into, to ensure that our children are safe when using cars. However, given the nature of our society, I think that this is more applicable in urban areas compared to upcountry.I agree that the safety of our children is key.
6.Uganda has no law or regulation regarding the use of child restraints when carrying child passengers. How is the government planning to ensure that the child passengers are safe when using cars? #RoadSafetyUg
@centre4policy@MoWT_Uganda@UNRA_UG@UNRSC@grspartnership@IncubatorGHAI This is indeed a pertinent matter, however, there is a need for us to first look into its applicability. At the policy level, there is a willingness to ensure that the Transport sector is in line with international standards.We also need to engage all stakeholders on the matter.
@centre4policy@RuhundaAlexMP@IncubatorGHAI@grspartnership Many times people driving under the influence of alcohol tend to drive at high speeds.
Note. Helmet use, seatbelt use and child restraints do not contribute to road crashes in themselves but they influence the level of severity of the injury during the road crash.
5.Currently, the speed limit for urban areas and other high built areas is at 50 Km/hr. However, the UN recommends 30Km/Hr or less for the built-up and urban areas. What is Uganda doing to ensure that we adhere to the International standards? #RoadSafetyUg

@centre4policy@MoWT_Uganda@PoliceUg@JudithKarara The importance of Helmets cannot be over emphasized. We need to sensitize our people on the importance the use helmets. Enforcement is yet another are that we need to look into.
There is need for us to ensure that when buying a motorcycle, it is accompanied with two helmets.
@centre4policy There is need for use to sensitize our people on the importance and advantages of using seat belts. More importantly there Is need to ensure that the Transport Sector is well regulated to ensure that most of the measures put in place by govt are adhered to.
@MoWT_Uganda
@centre4policy There is need for us to embrace the use of technology to manage most the challenges. The government is doing a good job to install the #CCTV. We can actually take advantage of this project to not only fight criminality but also other areas like to manage our roads.@IncubatorGHAI
