Uganda is capable to build its own tracking system develop software, innovate and create jobs. Our universities are full of brilliant young minds who need investment, not just imported solutions. Imagine what $30m could do for Ugandan innovators, and hungry students at Makerere.
A Makererean can go hungry while millions are committed to imported technology. The reported $30m tracking software deal demands answers. And why is NEC, a defence manufacturer, competing with small investors in civilian construction. Who are our priorities serving?
"Ugandans have discovered that, increasingly, there is nowhere to hide. Civic life here is defined by thickening webs of state surveillance built with foreign help. ... Technology has created an intrusive eye that never blinks, a stealthy weapon for dictators keen to stifle speech and thought."

As we think about lunch today, let us remember that Student who sometimes has to choose between a meal and another basic necessity. struggle is real. And it is not just a personal problem it is a student leadership issue. To every student struggling today: please do not give up.
Makerere is not just Uganda’s leading university; it is a symbol of what Africa can achieve. In the July 2026 Webometrics rankings, Makerere rose to 11th in Africa, while moving up 295 places globally to 776th.We must not only study at Makerere but build one that Africa needs
$1 = UGX 4,019.12. As Makerere students, we feel the impact directly—from tuition and accommodation to food, transport and study materials. The exchange rate is not just an economic statistic; it is the reality of student life. #Makerere#Uganda
Some students are smiling in class while silently fighting battles no one knows about hunger, financial struggles, academic pressure, loneliness .Please check on a student today. Make that call. Share your meal. Offer whatever support you can.Let’s not wait until it’s too late
A young life has been lost, and once again we are reminded that behind every student is a family, and a future. My heartfelt condolences the entire Makerere community following the passing of Kabuye Kevin Charles. May we stand together in compassion, and keep his memory alive.
A Makerere that leaves no student behind. To every student living with a disability:your dreams are valid, your voice matters, and your place at Makerere is unquestionable.Makerere must ensure accessible facilities, assistive technology, inclusive learning, and equal opportunities
STUDENTS FIRST. ❤️
No student should have to choose between a meal, a place to sleep, and staying in class.
Behind every lecture room is a student carrying a story, a struggle, and a dream. Let’s stand together, support one another, and build a Makerere where no student is left.
But the conversation must continue: How do we make quality university education accessible, affordable and sustainable for every Ugandan student?Makerere students are watching. The future of Uganda depends on the decisions we make today. Read Parliament’s full resolution

Life can change in a second. But in the pursuit of greatness, let us not forget to live, love, appreciate, and value the people around us. Be grateful for today. What feels ordinary now may one day become the very thing you wish you could have back
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
STUDENTS ARE FEELING THE PRESSURE.
When basic food prices rise, it is not “just business”—it directly affects students’ lives.
Our voices must be heard.
Our leaders must act.
Students deserve better.

UGX 1,000 more for the same plate of food? From UGX3,000 to UGX4,000 at Lumumba and students are feeling it.Where is the student leadership? This is the moment to stand up, speak out, and defend student welfare. A meal is a necessity, not a luxury.@kadondigracious@ProfNawangwe
