The Iowa State star dropped a PR of 8:22.94 to win Heat 2 of the men’s steeple prelim, the fastest time of the day. Both time qualifiers also came out of that stacked second heat.

Heat 1 was a bit more conservative, but Kristian Imroth of Eastern Kentucky still punched his ticket with a PR of 8:30.65 to take the win.
