@newnameT @TLLandscape @KemiBadenoch That’s why I said “not exactly correct”. Purchase Tax was introduced in 1940 under a war time National Government comprised of all parties. It came in at 33.3% and went up as high as 100% for some items! When VAT was introduced under Tories it actually dropped a huge amount.
