Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has endorsed Abbas Alawieh of Dearborn for State Senator. Alawieh, cofounder of the Uncommitted movement in 2024, is running in Dem primary in 2nd district against State Rep. Erin Byrnes. District includes Dearborn, Dearborn Heights, Allen Park, Melvindale other areas. Whitmer called Alawieh “a proven fighter who will work to lower costs, create good-paying jobs, and put Michigan families first.”
