Another 29 miles through the Romanian countryside today. So much peace and solitude here. Not to mention the friendly people offering lifts, buying me coffee, giving me places to sleep and generally being the foundation of this first stage of the journey.
Today is Stage 1. But it’s not a running day. The only way to reach where the Danube meets the Black Sea is by boat. So we’ve got a boat ride out and back. Through the Danube Delta one of the world’s great wildlife areas. It’s the perfect preamble to what’s to come.
This is where a river that sustains a continent of humans also supports thousands of species crucial to our planet. I’m going to see a lot of industry on the banks of this river as I run. This is a look at what what it might have been like without us interlopers. #runthedanube
The journey begins. I said goodbye to my wife, had one last squeeze-hug with my 7-year-old son and left my house for the last time for more than 2 months. And somehow I feel like that might be one of the hardest parts of all of this. #Thread
Duna, Dunaj, Donau, Dunarea, Dunav, Danube… here we come.

But the main thing is being brave enough to try. It was his birthday yesterday and I think this is the best gift I can ever give him. I hope you all enjoy following this journey. I’ll try to take you all with me. My DMs are open. If you want to run with me drop me a message.
