Explore the history of human civilization from 3000BC to today. Running Reality is a world history model with free web and app versions. #edtech#digitalhistory
@sarahesoltan Definitely takes lots of knowledge and technical ability to pull off. 😆 We could always use some help, though, since history is vast and there's so much detail to add.
We added our first dinosaur! Some of you have learned that the Running Reality map will go back into pre-history. It CAN go way back, but it is feeling a bit empty. Help us add life to those drifting continents. https://t.co/n2MaoSr8Nq #dinosaurs#continentaldrift#prehistoric
Where I'm standing used to be water along the Alexandria, VA waterfront. See how Running Reality shows old warehouses and ships in augmented reality, with a little help from generative AI. #alexandriava#edtech#ar#augmentedreality#oldbuildings#history
@AngryK45867 Right now you can blank out any data already, it is just a pain to do it object-by-object. But that might not be such a big deal if you just want to do an alt history of just a few historical events just to make a video.
@AngryK45867 The main difference between slightly alternative or research worlds and a "fully" alternative world is the ability to blank out very large amounts of "reality" to replace it with alternative data. Like, "blank out *everything* after the start of the War of the Roses."
@AngryK45867 They have not been a priority since no one has specifically asked us. We've been pushing on AI and 3D/AR/VR the past few months. We can bump it up if you are looking for something specific!
Professor Thaddeus Lowe demonstrates the use of balloons for military observation just as the U.S. Civil War begins. In June 1861, the Union occupied positions in Northern Virginia. However, they struggled to identify the location of the Confederate defensive positions.
We tried the new @OpenAI Atlas web browser with Running Reality. You can ask questions about world history and Atlas can drive the map to be your tour guide to explore interactive historical events! #edtech#history #1775 #BunkerHill
Here is an augmented reality view of the site of the mansion today. Can you believe there is now an elevated metro station above the mansion's front yard and skyscrapers in the farm fields beyond? This is what Running Reality's new prototype can now show.
Here is a sneak peek at what we are working right now. History isn't a map. We want to really bring history to life and take you into historical places and events in full 3D. @meshyai#genai#digitalhistory#edtech
This is a phenomenal set of principles for using GenAI in education just put out by the American Historical Association. RunningReality will follow these principles fully to give teachers and students full transparency. #aihistory#digitalhistory#edtech https://t.co/wb2pSzoV59
We have been mapping street-level details for cities old and new, from Rome, to Athens, to Tokyo, to Tikal, to Ur. Here is New York City as it evolved from 1600 to 1840 from native villages to Dutch colony to English settlement to a U.S. city.

Ever looked at a modern map of the ancient world and wondered how real those borders actually were? How did people at the time think about boundaries and control? Dive into our latest article to explore the origins of borders and the Westphalian shift:
