📣 After years of campaigning, Neonatal Care (Leave and Pay) is now law.
🎉 From today, parents with a premature or sick baby may be eligible for paid time off work, so they don’t have to choose between earning a paycheque and being by their baby’s side.
This is a huge step forward, but we’re not stopping here. Not all parents are covered, and Bliss will keep fighting until every family gets the support they deserve. 💙
Help us spread the word—tag a parent who might need to know this or share this post. 👇

ℹ️From April 6, parents of premature and sick babies will finally have the right to neonatal care leave and pay, giving them more time to be where they’re needed most.
💙Neonatal healthcare professionals see firsthand how vital this time is. They support parents through some of the hardest days of their lives—now, this new entitlement will help ease the financial and emotional pressure they face.
Please help Bliss ensure every family knows what they’re entitled to.

Today is #WorldPrematurityDay2024. We celebrate the incredible strength of premature babies, the unwavering love of their families, and the tireless commitment of healthcare professionals.
Session two has finished already and unfortunately we weren’t able to tweet during it.
We heard from @RupaRubinstein who presented her work @QMUL
“Fathers and mothers face similar stress caused by separation & helplessness when their
preemie is admitted to the neonatal unit.”
@DrEmmaNash @Dan1d13 This is what I do with my GP! I confused them once when my query was easier to format into a referral letter that I wanted them to send on for a 2WW 😅
@DoctorRach13 3 year plan, 1 year plan, 1 month plan and weekly plans to keep the momentum going! It's quite strange having you design your own working week and it's easy to waste time/not prioritise effectively

@DrEilidhMaria In NICU we do CBGs as routine as babies don't have art lines for long if at all. Its definitely doable and much kinder! Great project 👍🏼
@Dr_DeanS If locumming in your own department to cover gaps, you could argue its not a second job, merely extra work in job 1. Check with HMRC. My internal locums are processed as extra job 1!
