@haynesdeborah My experiences of working in TCGs and SCGs is that they do deliver - Plymouth bomb(s) and Somerset floods as an example. Let them crack on and cover that bit whilst we upgrade the agencies to deal with coms/power disruption (NPO)/disorder.
You have got to start somewhere.
@haynesdeborah The Local Resilience Forums (LRF) are probably the best structures to achieve progress, and fast. Fund them to recruit project officers to focus on Home Defence. Those LRFs who had PO for National Power Outage were far better prepared than those that didn't.
@MaeveHalligan Maeve, that was first class and undeniably right. Can I nudge you to pause a bit to let your points land as they were spot on and need 'dwell' time. And keep it up!
Dear @owenjonesjourno. As editor of Jewish News, I was appalled by the language my deputy used towards you. There is no excuse for the unnecessary use of a full stop before a coordinating conjunction. The sentence should, of course, have read:
“I am Deputy Editor of Jewish News and I’m respectfully asking you to fuck right off.”
@WarMonitor3 Prince Albert....now, hear me out. If he hadn't died as young as he did our relationship with Kaiser Wilhelm II might have been far closer and WW1 wouldn't have happened, and, as we all know, no WW1 = no WW2.
And imagine what an enlightened age he would have created!
@I_W_M The vickers of the 8th Middlesex firing in support of the peerless 43rd Wessex Div. The legendary Sidney Jary was part of the attack that cleared the high ground covered in smoke in this film.
For every retweet of this post, I will donate £1 to the @VC_and_GC_Assoc up to £50,000.
Time is running out following @I_W_M’s decision to close the Lord Ashcroft Gallery.
Visit while you still can, to honour the bravery of those who risked so much to protect our great nation.
When some poor bastard gets round to writing his biography, there is just no way they can swerve saying he is the worst PM in living memory. They may use the words 'complicated', but we'll all know they mean utterly useless.
Labour has spent three times more on private flights in one year than the last government did over a whole Parliament.
It's not the flights I mind, it's the hypocrisy. Remember how Labour used to complain about Rishi Sunak taking private flights AT HIS OWN EXPENSE?
