UPDATE, after the result… It was great to be in Holborn and St Pancras yesterday, helping out on election-day on the ground. The camaraderie was real. But camaraderie / our comfort-zone is of course not enough. Our vote, admittedly with the unique (to this constituency) help of Andrew Feinstein, went well forward, but the Labour margin of victory was still comfortable, despite our Leader throwing everything at this. Our comfort-zone is ofc only the start: >Greens must get better at appealing well >beyond< our base.< At reaching all the way to the majority who are deeply concerned about the everything-crisis that the Labour Government are still not addressing with any seriousness.

It’s time to start thinking about a strategic reset. It’s time to remind people why we exist. To place issues like climate impacts and their impact on cost of living front and centre. And to work to depolarise rather than to play into culture wars.

Simon Jack in the last hour managing to combine being utterly vapid (eg on the Celebrity Traitors, with a content-free matey segment featuring Rajan), getting things completely wrong (eg 100% misunderstanding what the Trade Envoy who he had on was saying), calling in effect for the law to be broken (by suggesting that perhaps the UAE should be allowed to be above the law, because they are such big investors in the U.K.), and slanting history in a false and thoroughly right-wing direction (by making the ludicrous claim that inequality has gone down in the last 40 years).
Mostly terrible guests.
Ignoring all the real massive issues facing the world.
