A huge AI data centre to be built on countryside by Auchtertool village in Fife - using an estimated 20% of Scotland’s energy consumption when in operation.

“For the first time in my life, I own land. Not a building or apartment, land. Unlike the other two which feel more akin to a gopher occupying a different hole, I'm a steward now, solely responsible for how much this land changes or how much it stays the same. Best I could hope is be a benign nuisance to this place. Man's goal in society is to be remembered. In nature it is to be forgotten, unnoticed, leave as little proof I was here as I possibly can. That will be my gift to this place.”
~ Preston Clyburn
So while farmers get punished over cow burp emissions, the greenhouse gas emissions of AI data centres have not been included in the Scottish Government’s analysis of the impact of data centres on Scotland’s climate targets, according to analysis by environmental charity APRS.
Home truths from Scottish farmer Will Murray to the Labour government:
“You broke the trust of every farmer in the nation with Inheritance Tax. It has broken us."
The farmlands of North East Fife are a thing of beauty. One of Scotland’s most fertile agricultural areas with over 840 farms. A mixture of livestock, barley, wheat, oilseed rape, raspberries, strawberries & tatties. The scenery is stunning. Howe of Fife is the garden of Fife. 🏴
