@PlankShow If the rule is that the batter should be in the box by 12 seconds left on the clock, then 1) the rule wording is confusing, and 2) no ump is enforcing it.
They better not let it go all season, then enforce it in postseason. That would suck.
@PlankShow FYI NCAA Rule 10.18 TIME BETWEEN PITCHES
Pitcher has 20 secs from time they get the ball to pitch.
The batter must be in box within 12 seconds after the pitcher receives the ball..."
12 seconds after the pitcher receives the ball would be 8 seconds on the Action clock.
As per usual, the NCAA rulebook wording is confusing. But, I think Amanda was incorrect saying the batter has to be in the box by 12 seconds on the clock. The would explain why batters are still getting in by 10 and not called for it.
@jcsedlacek@SoftballPortal Yeah, it’s not super clear, but rule 12.6.2.7 does state “Should they stand on the foul portion only it is considered not in contact with the base and they will be called out if:”
She never got the chance to “stand on…only”. Can’t ignore the “stand on” part of the rule IMO.
@JefeVfl@SoftballPortal Read the rule that I posted for you. It says if the runner “stands” on the bag, she can be tagged out. Watch the video, she’s walking towards the Fair bag when she’s touched. She didn’t stop. Had she stopped, 100% she’s out. Safety bag shouldn’t be used as a “gotcha” cheap out
@JefeVfl@SoftballPortal 12.6.2.7 After overrunning the base or returning to the base, the offensive player must return to the fair portion. Should they stand on the foul portion only,
it is considered not in contact with the base and they will be called out if:
12.6.2.7.1 They are tagged with the ball
@JefeVfl@SoftballPortal Rule says she can be tagged out if she STANDS on the safety bag. She was returning to the Fair bag and happened to step on the safety bag while walking towards the fair bag. Watch the video. Runner never stopped, and was tagged while in motion. Bad call.
@jcsedlacek@SoftballPortal The runner WAS returning to the fair portion; she didn’t stop ON the safety bag, she just happened to step on it on her way to the right bag. The safety bag doesn’t exist after the runner passes. So, essentially the 1B tagged her walking back to 1st Base. That’s why it’s wrong

@wrogerss I was rooting for WKU to recover that onsides kick so bad. Would have been epic watching LSU sweat out that last minute. Was getting flashbacks to Mario Cristobal and Miami not taking a knee.
