i had just told her that she was the reason my husband, who’s an atheist, and i started going to church. she seemed moved. we didn’t want to take up too much of her time, so we asked for a quick photo. i imagine many people who meet her share deeply personal stories before posing for a picture. a single expression doesn’t capture that context.
