[Andrew Rush @RushSpace]

Thank you @JaxBizJournal for naming me an Ulitmate CEO of 2026. Without the great folks at @StarCatcherInd, we would never turn vision into reality. I’m proud to represent them!

"Star Catcher Protostar: separation confirmed."

Over the next few months, Protostar will deploy and track a CubeSat with our flight-proven satellite tracking software, then beam power to its off-the-shelf solar panels.

Upon completion, this will be the world’s first optical power beamed between two free-flying spacecraft — a technological advancement that will pave the way for our orbital power grid.

Stay tuned for more and #BeamOn ⭐️

We just hit a huge milestone— we landed a $60M @SpaceWERXDOD program to power the next generation of space based capabilities! Super proud of the team. More to come!

[Star Catcher @StarCatcherInd]

Breaking news from Austin! Star Catcher has been selected for a $60M Strategic Funding Increase (STRATFI) award.

Comprising $30M in government funds and $30M in private matching, this STRATFI will help us accelerate the development of our orbital energy grid.

We are honored to be working with @USSpaceForce and @SpaceWERXDOD to support our nation’s security in space. More to come, stay tuned!

“Space. The Final Frontier”: @gerardreid14 and I set out to explore one of the biggest ideas emerging alongside the excitement around a potential @SpaceX IPO: datacenters in space. To refuel those satellites emerged the concept of an orbital grid where beams are directed to provide electricity to space crafts, like a gas station in space.

It may sound like science fiction, but it is rapidly becoming a medium-term engineering challenge being tackled by some of the brightest minds of our generation.

One of those pioneers is Andrew @RushSpace , CEO of @StarCatcherInd , a company building what will become the world's first orbital energy grid—a network of satellites capable of wirelessly transmitting power to other spacecraft on demand hundreds of kilometres away.

Andrew is the man for the mission: he previously served on the Technology, Innovation and Engineering Committee of the NASA Advisory Council, helping advise NASA's Administrator, the Office of the Chief Technologist, and its Mission Directorates. Before founding Star Catcher, he successfully built and exited two leading space companies: Redwire and Made-In-Space.

His vision is ambitious: create an "energy-as-a-service" platform for space.

Rather than forcing every satellite to carry increasingly large solar arrays and batteries, spacecraft could draw power from a shared orbital network whenever they need it. If successful, this infrastructure could become as fundamental to the space economy as the electrical grid is on Earth.

Investors are taking notice. Star Catcher has raised approximately $88 million to date, including a recent $65 million Series A led by B Capital, Shield Capital, and Cerberus Ventures.
Andrew believes SpaceX's reusable rockets have dramatically reduced the cost of reaching orbit, unleashing an explosion in satellite deployment. The next major bottleneck, however, is no longer launch—it's power. Star Catcher aims to build the energy infrastructure that enables the next generation of space-based industries.

In this conversation, we explore what's real, what's possible, and what's still myth when it comes to energy in space. We also discuss why technologies that once seemed decades away may arrive much sooner than most people expect.

The future of the space economy isn't just about getting to orbit—it's about powering everything that comes next.

Live long and prosper.

[Star Catcher @StarCatcherInd]

Only a team that works together as well as ours could execute a high-five this precisely!

Our engineers have been hard at work building critical flight hardware for our first on-orbit optical power beaming demonstration.

[Zenno Astronautics @zennospace]

APPROVED FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: On this monumental 250th anniversary of American independence, Zenno Astronautics announces its intent to redomicile to the United States, establishing Los Angeles as its new home base.

Zenno will expand its manufacturing footprint in L.A. and is proud to bring the world’s best superconducting magnet talent to America (and some strong kiwi accents). 🦅

[Star Catcher @StarCatcherInd]

As we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, we look back at a country defined by explorers, innovators, dreamers, and builders.

From the founding of a new democracy, to the great infrastructure projects of the 1800s and now the dawn of this Golden Age in space, American innovation has always led the way.

At Star Catcher, we are building the first power grid in space, providing the critical infrastructure needed to ensure America’s continued scientific and technological leadership as humanity sets its sights on the stars. 🇺🇸

[Star Catcher @StarCatcherInd]

What makes a power grid in space possible today?

Check out @RushSpace on @cheddar explaining why the surge of low Earth orbit satellites and advancements in laser-based communications are making shared space energy infrastructure not just possible, but inevitable.

[Andrew Rush @RushSpace]

I'm honored to join the @zennospace board! Max and the team have accomplished an amazing feat with proving their breakthrough technology in space. I'm excited to help them scale it in applications across the space industry.

[Zenno Astronautics @zennospace]

APPROVED FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Industry veteran Andrew Rush (@RushSpace) joins Zenno Astronautics board of directors, accelerating global expansion.

Howard is a titan!

[Mo Islam @itsmoislam]

Full interview with Howard Morgan (@HLMorgan) on the @SpaceX IPO. Howard is the Chair of @BCapital, co-founder of RenTech, and co-founder of @firstround.

"I think space is probably around 1985 or 1990 in internet terms. Still pretty early."

We discuss:

– how the IPO price was not set by the market and what that means for where the stock actually lands
– Starlink's coming price war and why Amazon's LEO constellation is a risk factor worth pricing in
– why cooling in orbit is harder than people think re space-based compute, but why it still works
– the SpaceX launch monopoly and why the absence of network effects means competition will come
– the infrastructure layer being built around SpaceX

[Andrew Rush @RushSpace]

Space is no different. Reusable launch is our highway. Bigger solar arrays are bigger water wheels. The satellites that win the next decade won't have the largest wings — they'll show up lean and plug into something bigger than themselves. (3/3)

[Andrew Rush @RushSpace]

Stop slapping bigger solar arrays on a bus and calling it a power architecture. It's just a better buggy whip. (1/3)

[Andrew Rush @RushSpace]

Industrializing space needs power-dense, high-availability satellites — not 500kg buses producing tens of kW only when sunlit. What drove Earth's industrial expansion? Shared infrastructure: highways replaced dirt roads, a grid replaced each mill's water wheel. (2/3)

[Andrew Rush @RushSpace]

It’s always awesome to have your company recognized on the @NYSE! Same feeling as taking @Redwire public there a few years ago!

[Star Catcher @StarCatcherInd]

What an electric week thus far since announcing our $65M Series A to build the first power grid in space ⚡️ Thank you @NYSE for sharing the news and interviewing Andrew Rush on the opening bell show!
