This is just my personal view, but I dont understand why a game studio would be in support of Generative AI, the very same tech thats making game consoles more unaffordable, and hence, less people to buy your game.
[Stellar Blade Drama]
I would like to ask the SB community to take a step back and stop behaving like Shift Up has gutted their entire team and replaced them with 3 guys in a basement playing with AI.
Didn’t we just get an amazing track ("Make Up Your Mind") from Youngjee and Aejin? Youngjee herself has said she was returning to work on Stellar Blade Blood Rain. That track is seriously amazing.
Has it ever occurred to you that Shift Up now has the same if not even more talented staff (since they are a growing and profitable studio) working on the 2nd game and its content. It just so happens they also have a dedicated team (Shift Up AI Labs) exploring AI use cases?
These things do not have to be mutually exclusive. You can hire more people and have people work on high-priority aspects of the game, while also taking advantage of accelerators with AI. At the very least, none of us have any evidence things are going south, like many people seem to assume.
All this drama and rage is preventing the community from paying attention to some of the interesting tidbits revealed through the new MV. Evie being a foodie? Who was she grieving as she looked at a vial of Scarlet Sin? How about that deeper look at the city?
Perhaps we should stop acting like we are all experienced game developers or honorary Shift Up employees with intimate understanding of their inner workings and staffing arrangements.
Lastly, do people understand that you can’t just "AI prompt" your way into an AAA game? The mo-cap, storyline, lore, dialogue, character and monster designs, quests, items, voice acting, animations, and overall game and art direction are all going to be Shift Up and their talented staff, not ChatGPT or whatever. If it's the latter, are you afraid of not being able to tell?
Releasing an AI video based on their own hand made assets is called using a tool and allocating resources intelligently so the staff can focus on other higher priority matters. Even if Shift Up uses AI to generate clutter and background assets, it's not like the core of the game isn't still hand made.
The entire AI hate is a band wagon/ high horse / “I support the next big thing” Greta Thunberg level activist mentality.
The SCREEN Act, which will go for a full committee markup next Wednesday, on its own would force every single adult in the US to do ID/age verification. With that would come mass censorship & surveillance over the last bit of freedom and information we have - the internet.
you have all the in house resources and funds you could ever want to make this for real. it's a slap in the face to your artists and your fans to churn out lazy, ugly, subpar garbage when you employ some of the most talented people in the industry. no one wants this but you.
@Ex_Soldier23 Toras break art with her hits three time, so imo it's worth it to give tora an accessory to increase chance of break, and give the other two poppis luck mods
Flock CEO Garrett Langley says his vision for the future is to have Flock cameras in all US cities
“For me, the future is a future where more cities look like San Francisco, where crime is incredibly hard to get away with”
