@Slensei5l Nope. Even southern cities like Voronezh are grey, dusty hellholes. Life in russia outside Moscow is impossible. Things have been getting worse for the last 5 years after a brief bump in the 2010s. Depressive, suicidal holes. A third of my friends have left over the past years

@Slensei5l Ukraine is neglected, just like russia's regions and the backwaters of many Eastern Eu countries (Romania, Bulgaria...) Though it's less depressing than russia's-the weather is better and people are kinder. Kyiv's historic center is fine, but the Left Bank is mostly Soviet trash.

@BrianMcDonaldIE I was there before the war. I have Russian relatives all the way to Omsk and Surgut, and my mom is from Kamchatka. I know Russia inside out. Moscow is just bad, but the rest of the country is in terrible shape. The further from Moscow, the worse and more depressing it gets.
