Field studies of Avocets at a superb looking @Barnsleybsg@RSPB_OldMoor Wombwell Ings this morning. Been trying to nail these birds for years! I think there's a bit of improvement here, but It's probably futile to think I'll ever get 'em right! Cheers
@Barnsleybsg I did wonder about hybridization straight away. I see the ducklings closely resemble those of Mallards and thought about surrogacy briefly but I've no clue about the breeding complexities of wildfowl! I'll keep an eye on them. Cheers
Female Red-crested Pochard with 4 young @Barnsleybsg Milton Ponds today. Not sure if this species has bred in the BBSG area before? A female's been on and off here the last 2 years or so but I've never heard of a drake here in that time. Cheers
Can you believe this fucking clown is in there demanding more money for foreign aid π€¬ WTF is wrong with these people?
CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME YOU MUG!
A couple of passerine efforts from a recent visit to @Barnsleybsg Wharncliffe Chase. Stonechat, Willow Warbler and a very showy male Redstart. I obviously need to work on songbirds but the brevity of sightings makes them a huge challenge! Cheers
Curlews are teaching us so much about ourselves, society, the way we treat nature. I hope we listen before it is too late. Thank you to everyone who supports my work and who are always there. It is genuinely humbling to know you, even if through this strange online world.ππ«π
Oh here we go, a director of South Wast Water. responsible for overseeing fat cat salaries and bonuses also runs a business offering "aura cleansing and crystal healing using techniques 'passed down through a 3,000-year-old lineage'."
Who in the hell appoints these people, @NatWestGroup any ideas?

Field studies of Woodchat Shrikes in Kefalonia recently. The most familiar migrant breeding passerine I came across. Not sure how many folk are still interested in this stuff but thanks for looking anyway! Cheers
A student from India who does not hold British citizenship and is here on a temporary visa has just been elected to the Scottish parliament to serve a four-year term (salary Β£80,000 per year). How in Godβs name can something like this be allowed to happen? Our democracy is sick.
