@KarlSmallwood For the rest of TLJ they fight EVEN DUMBER than previous movies and are EVEN MORE SLAVISH to the analogy. The idea that "no one thought of that" is incredible. There is other sci-fi. People stuck to the style of Star Wars to be consistent to the universe. Because it was fun.
@rainncarnation@IwriteOK The other side of that coin is The Polity, The Culture but written by a libertarian weirdo, where the AI are much more ambivalently coded.
@BitsHammer Absolutely true. Even so, it's hard to read a novel and not identify with one character or another. Some hate Tau because they're the last bad in a world that's supposed to be all bad. It sometimes feels like this reaction is because it removes the excuse for playing bad guys.
@IwriteOK That is essentially the experience of the little smartcars that you can rent. They feel like the bumper cars powered by overhead electrification when they brake. It is unpleasant.
@mosheroperandi@IwriteOK Literally true yes, they're like 1/3 of a millimeter thick. I have a little container on my bathroom counter that serves a similar purpose, just a couple inches tall and it has held years worth and will hold many more years worth.
@IwriteOK Given that all we use our aircraft carriers for is bombing the shit out of people with no means to return fire, this seems entirely in keeping with that doctrine, but cheaper
@FreddyInSpace I really like it. The writing is genuinely clever on occasion, and almost never makes me cringe with how awkward or incredibly convenient it is like most streaming-only shows I've watched lately. I have minor gripes (as with everything) but it's NEAT. Hope it wraps well.
@poondonkus@WiresAndFlesh I think the idea is that the first are the good ones, but really, I thoroughly enjoy all of those. Maybe the Icheb one is pretty slow. But actually that seems like one that's supposed to be "good" so idk.
@JoeKassabian@IwriteOK I dunno man. Not touching any of those threads with a 40 foot pole, but having access to a half decent kitchen and equipment can certainly be a luxury. Eating out is essentially never going to be cheaper, but it does feel a bit like the whole expensive boots paradox at times.
@BuffaloBleu@GaryWinslett Sure, my iPhone 4 still works perfectly. It also can't be used for the purposes I need it anymore because they dropped support for it from iOS and all the necessary apps slowly stopped working as they updated. Anything that requires software updates does not belong here.
