@elonmusk What are your throughts on Asteroid 2019 OK passing a mere 73,000 km from Earth? We are woefully under protected from these city killer asteroids. Maybe send up a few satellites that will look for these big hunks of death before you make the search for them harder with Starlink.
@fcain I don't want to see them but with 12,000 of them up there I'm sure I will see my share of them cutting data out of my images. Let's hope a big rock headed for Earth is not in that data.
@fcain@philipbull@elonmusk@varunversion1@Erdayastronaut@SpaceX Nope not at all willing to pay that price there are other ways to provide internet without effecting science or amateur astrophotographers/scientists. The night sky has been up there a lot longer then Musk has been alive and contrary to what "Ego" Musk thinks its not his to ruin.
@elonmusk@13ericralph31@varunversion1@Erdayastronaut@SpaceX What about the non critical astronomical science amateur astrophotographers do every night? It's not all about pretty pictures you have amateur scientists all over the world hunting down all kinds of objects from supernova to potentially hazardous near earth asteroids.
@elonmusk@varunversion1@Erdayastronaut@SpaceX I see 8-10 satellites a hour in a typical observing session without making any effort to look for them. The bulk of astronomical science research is done from the ground using adaptive optics to compensate for atmospheric distortion.
@hardwick Night Court is one of my favourite shows. I have seen every episode at least 10 times. Rip Harry Anderson thanks for all the laughs. #50dollarsandtimeserved
