“Pain and suffering are always inevitable for a large intelligence and a deep heart. The really great men must, I think, have great sadness on earth.”
Fyodor Dostoevsky, Crime and Punishment

If we are living in a simulation, I am sure there is some asshole sitting at a console saying, "For fuck's sake they should have colonized space by now."
Palo Alto: "Our inclusion and diversity focus areas are centered around P.U.L.S.E.—Psychologically Safe. Understand. Listen. Support. Elevate."
Also Palo Alto:
“The ideal subject of totalitarian rule is not the convinced Nazi or the convinced Communist, but people for whom the distinction between fact and fiction and the distinction between true and false no longer exist.”
― Hannah Arendt, The Origins of Totalitarianism
