#sapsEC [NGQELENI POLICE ARRESTED TWO MALE SUSPECTS FOR POSSESSION OF UNLICENSED FIREARMS AND AMMUNITION]

Ngqeleni police acted on reliable information received from community members they serve about two male suspects aged 34 and 46 years old, alleged to be in possession of unlicensed firearms and both were nabbed.

In the first incident at Mayalweni locality - Nomadolo A/A, on Saturday, 01 August 2026, at about 23:55, a 34-year-old male suspect was nabbed at his homestead for possession of a 9mm pistol (erased serial number) having seven (07) live rounds of ammunition. He had no lawful documentation to possess such and was immediately arrested.

In a second unrelated incident at Malungeni locality, a 46-year-old male suspect was nabbed on Sunday, 02 August 2026, at about 13:00, found in possession of a 9mm pistol (intact serial number) having twelve rounds of live ammunition. He also had no licence to possess such firearm and ammunition.

Both suspects are due to appear before Ngqeleni Magistrates Court on Monday, 03 August 2026, on charges of unlawful possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition whilst firearms will be taken for ballistic tests to establish whether they had not been used in the commission of crime. #GunsOffTheStreets NP
